Egyptian billionaire Naguib Sawiris has offered to buy an island off Greece or Italy and develop it to help hundreds of thousands of people fleeing from Syria and other conflicts
On the surface, this seems like a very generous idea and a humanitarian gesture on his part. What do you think?Read the article for more info
It seems really strange that this 'humanitarian' wants the migrants to risk life and limb to get to Europe before he will help.
Since they are from the Middle East, why does this 'humanitarian' not offer to buy land in the arab countries around their countries of origin.
I am sure filthy rich countries like Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Bahrain, UAE would be able to take in a lot of refugees, even without this 'humanitarian's' help.
Where are their consciences?
