NRA rewrites classic fairytales, giving guns to Hansel, Gretel and Little Red Riding Hood
And they lived armed ever after.

The National Rifle Association is rewriting classic children’s fairytales to put guns in the hands of the protagonists.

NRA Family, the group's family-oriented site, has published two of the warped tales so far: “Hansel and Gretel (Have Guns)” and “Little Red Riding Hood (Has a Gun).” The gun loving group claims the altered stories show how classic fairytale characters could have avoided disaster — if only they had weapons.

Most fairy tales have violent themes anyway and have been softened over time. Looks like the NRA wants kids to be armed hmm

I found the stories rather amusing, and a far better story to read to young ones than the original ones.

Of course, I was one of the "Hansel's" - at 14, out with a gun to bring home the meat for the next month or two.  One of those "armed kids" you mention that the NRA wants.

I too remember that tale , I would rather Hansel had a gun  too, could have used it earlier against that evil  socialist witch!

Alas, in the new book he only keeps it ready while the witch sleeps.  However, the townspeople then come (with more guns) and put her in the same cage she had the two boys in.

Same with Red Riding Hood - both she and grandma only threaten the Big Bad Wolf - unlike the original, no one is eaten or even killed.

I know the Hansel and Gretel from displaying it a few times. The story is about warning children about child molesters. Many schools wanted to ban it, wail the children said the adults don't get.

Guns is a different story, for the all dangerous adventures adrenalin junkie  experiences I've had around the world. A gun cocked to my head gave me an overwhelming helplessness from plans A to Z. I've been attacted by wild dogs, monkey, bears and mugged by thieves and worst the Government without much harm. A gun requires little skill and designed to kill, game over by a fool or child whose brain or experiences are not developed.

Yes, it requires some skill and knowledge.  So do fists, feet, knives, swords and sticks.  Of all the weapons we might use in defense, the gun probably requires the least training, though.

The alternative is the fairy tale  altering of  reality that the left is using indoctrinating our   children  to view the  honest ,law abiding MASS majority of gun owners and sportsman  as evil murderers ! Period .      .......Its happening right in most  elementary  schools today !

I have been seeing this for thirty years .

We use to bring guns to grade school on the bus and carry our bullets in our pockets for rifle training.  I was trusted to carry a gun to go hunting and for protection as a child. Living in the wilderness here there are black bear, timber wolves, badgers and brush wolves that normally live in harmony with people, but you don't want to come between them and their cubs.

I come face to face with potentially danger animals, but I was taught at a young age to show no fear (they can sense fear) and don't look them in the eyes (no intimidation). They are more afraid of people then we are of them and will run away if they don't know you.  Its worked every time so far.

I don't have the heart to shoot anything unless I'm hungry (which I'm not), or unless it was to protect myself or someone else.  I do like to target practice for recreation. Its just normal.

The NRA used to all about safety. Now that they are ran by the gun manufactures and did a 180 degree about-face and became a bunch of lunatics that push for gun sales, period!

I support people being able to own guns and carry them. However those cartoons do some ridiculous & I don't think children should be carrying guns around. I think the NRA overthinks gun rights as much as the liberal people trying to ban them. I am just a normal person I don't care. I just wish I could legally carry a gun around to protect myself because in california there are some bad places, trust me. However I do not carry because of the laws. Not a time to rant, but as someone who thinks guns should be allowed, I don't like this.

So Stacie L , is the point of this thread one more attempt at the big bad gun running wolf and the  poor little children who will be shot on their way to  catechism .    Please    explain , I was being read Handsel and Gretel  fairy tales  while  going to bed after spending a couple of hours rabbit  hunting with uncle ,

We defend ourselves better, with far less guns, nukes and war, abolish them even better. Killing never stops killing only increases it.

Mass murders in a year is like 470 kills compared to 30,000 firearm death's. It is an adventure risk worth taking.

Compare to fire arming guards, teachers, students, malls, farms, work sites and everyway non stop. America already nearing a gun for every person.

After more of High Noon increase. What next, nuke kits or easy bake oven for kids and Nazi's at Christmas. I threw out my Jonny seven gun and Military toys out at age seven and fell in love with girls and sports. Why can't we all grow up and be childlike rather than childish?

wildernessposted 7 years agoin reply to this

It seems that the underlying thought here is that guns kill people, and that if we don't have guns others won't either.  If we are childlike and don't maintain a strong defense then others won't attack.

Both are patently false.  One day the human species may eliminate violence from our mental state, but until then defense is necessary whether we as an individual enjoy violence or not.

Do you want to be politically correct and unarmed? Or would you want to be able to protect your family if you had one and were less fortunate enough to live in a bad place. Maybe you live in the ghetto... I don't know.

Are you talking about the largest drug pushers in the world. :Doctors: Their legal drugs are more lethal than the more green illegal drugs.

Add decent education to illegal drugs like marijuana (+hemp) and you have far healthier and more abundance products than all the greedy 1% (our world owners) synthetic products.

Both drug are a tiny fraction lethal than the Synthetic masters guns and nukes. Not in direct death's yet in fear tactical Empire control. Ruling people by fear, they managed to set the greatest slavery ring in human history. Even slaves never had  impossible debts that their children can't pay off in their life time.

Most people know things are going to get worst and most have been brainwashed lied to for so long  they except most things from their masters as truth. I don't fear death. Legal prescription drugs kill more people than all illegal drugs. How did I descibed getting a gun into the family doctors cold dead hands?

Hemp gets pooled with marijuana under the Food/Health/Drug administrator. Cannabis is the species and they make it too differcult or illegal to study under their evil plan.

Chuck Norris wants to kick illegal drugs out of America, this man is strongly involved in politic. Norris dose not know if alcohol is more lethal than marijuana like many American. Yet most Americans approve legallizion.

Norris compares alcohol to marijuana like plain donuts to sugar coated donuts. Sugar and fat is 30 times more lethal than all drugs combined. Same for legal tobacco.

This one world order Empire passes it out to other sugar and tobacco cartels among many other kinds of synthetic product pirate cooperation to depopulate us. Bank have 95% of the money, they can print all the Money they want. Government borrow from banks never pay it back. They debt interest us for life. They can grabbed anyone from anywhere and label them a terrorist without due process like with the middle East and murder mostly women and children, very rare any hubber cares..

Chuck Norris would not approve this message or evolution. Yet he promotes pop, cerial, cigars, war, cops, guns, alcohol and chuck Norris jokes. A real Marlboro man

Norris wants to re educate American schools about the Bible. Minion united, if Norris shot Kenny, Kenny would stay dead. He would use a gun before his fist, it's the American way. In Canada if we get upset with someone we write a letter.

      Some good points there.

No matter how you slice it, guns solves nothing.
      1. I'ts a no brainier (pun) I have 3 times more chance to kill myself, than to kill some else to start with.
      2. Then have a greater chance to someone I know, than to kill a criminal.
      3. And then have a more chance of killing himself for killing someone else.
      4. Let's go into killing cops or the US Military, for sure I will kill myself again
Even if I were Kenny on South Park who never dies, the pain alone would not allow me to own a gun.

US has 25% of the world's prisoners and half of the world's war budget. No brainwashing technology will work, to tell me this is about defence, not offense. I'm my own boss, no Empire, no private, no minion owns me.

I wasn't actually able to read the stories.  The links don't work (taken down, perhaps?).  In any case, the most accurate version of Hansel and Gretel with guns would be for Hansel to accidentally shoot his sister while trying to clean his gun.  Or, his mother.

Well, not really, but statistically speaking, if you have a gun in the house, you are more likely to get shot, whether accidentally or during an argument or altercation.

I'm not sure what providing food for your families has to do with the story, or with my comment, so I'll let that one sit.

Children with guns in the home are more likely to die of a gun death than children with no guns in the home.  And for the gun to be of any protection against a child napper, the children would have to carry the guns with them at all times, loaded.

Yeah, sounds like a great way to keep children safe.

And if you have a hammer you are statistically more likely to hit your thumb with it than if you do not.  This should not be a surprise.

Hansel didn't shoot his sister: he procured food for the family with his gun.

See first sentence.  But for sure kids (untrained) should never have access to guns.  Any more than they should to a running car - we all know not to leave a kid in a running car and it should not come as a shock that guns (or anything they can hurt themselves or their siblings with) should be kept away from them.  Some things we can't - our son pinked a neighbor boy with a butcher knife once, by falling on him - but when we can we should.

"And if you have a hammer you are statistically more likely to hit your thumb with it than if you do not.  This should not be a surprise."  True, but are you statistically more likely to die?

Hansel didn't shoot his sister: he procured food for the family with his gun.  Well, of course he did, it's an NRA story.  Look, I have nothing against guns.  I grew up in a hunting family; we currently own guns and I know how to shoot.  That doesn't mean I'm immune to the facts, which are pretty clear that having guns in the home increases the risk that children others will be shot by a family member or by their own hand.  I did NOT have guns in the house when my children were growing up.

Sure, we all know to do this, that, and the other thing.  The fact remains that the primary purpose of guns is to kill.  Not so with hammers, cars, or knives.  The subject of this thread (again, I wasn't able to actually read the stories) is children's stories rewritten by the NRA to show what would happen if children carried guns.  I submit that it is a far more likely scenario that terrible accidents would occur if children routinely carried guns, than it is that children would be able to save themselves from predators.  It's common sense, don't you think?

Do you think this is reasonable?  Do you think it would make children safer?

And yet...the single biggest accidental killer of teens is cars.  And we let them continue to drive.

Sure, people with guns kill other people, sometimes by accident (although accidental death by gun in small children is a very small number).  It's a good argument for required training, whether there is a gun in the house or not (is there one in the neighbors house?  Lying on the street or playground?).  Think we'll mandate gun safety in schools?  No, instead we'll continue to try and take guns away, refusing to recognize that it is our own stupidity and refusal to acknowledge reality that is accidentally killing children.

Let's get back on topic.  I was addressing the NRA rewriting children's stories to put guns in the hands of children like Hansel & Gretel.  I am saying that common sense tells us that for guns to be an effective way for children to defend themselves against predators, they would have to be armed when they are out and about without their parents.  This would not make children safer.  Do you think children should be armed with loaded guns while they are walking to school, traveling to a friend's house, hanging out with their buddies at the park, or playing in their own front yard, all occasions when a predator could possibly approach a child?

Not opinion.  FACT.  That's why I didn't allow guns in the house when my children were still living at home.

"Having a gun in your home significantly increases your risk of death — and that of your spouse and children.

And it doesn’t matter how the guns are stored or what type or how many guns you own.

If you have a gun, everybody in your home is more likely than your non-gun-owning neighbors and their families to die in a gun-related accident, suicide or homicide.

Furthermore, there is no credible evidence that having a gun in your house reduces your risk of being a victim of a crime. Nor does it reduce your risk of being injured during a home break-in.

The health risks of owning a gun are so established and scientifically non-controvertible that the American Academy of Pediatrics issued a policy statement in 2000 recommending that pediatricians urge parents to remove all guns from their homes.

Notice that the recommendation doesn’t call for parents to simply lock up their guns. It stresses that the weapons need to be taken out of the house."

Since nobody excepts my Solutions by going after the bankers.o

Most parents can afford at $35 gun for their children. For ones who can't afford a gun the NRA could provide because they can make profit selling $10 per bullet. Welfare can help because they save by less bodies to pay out to. IF every kid has a gun, it would put the fear of God toward preverts, some gays and bully kids.

Since Americas kill themsevle greater than overseas. When the America dollar crashes they can kill themselves faster faster faster like public enermy no.1 Reefer Maddness. Then then Gov.drones can move in and save the day. That would make the rest of the world happiest because America would invade us less.

Because as we all know, only good guys have guns.  No way would the witch or the wolf have guns in these versions of the stories, no siree.  Not with all the hoops y'all have to go through to get your hands on a gun.

Wait, that doesn't sound quite right...

I think the more realistic version of these stories would involve everyone with a gun and perhaps a feel-good shootout of some sort.

Dear Lovers of the NRA.  It's okay to love someone with flaws.  No one is perfect, including those you love.  True love is acknowledging the shortcomings of your object of affection, and still loving them, warts and all.  The NRA is wrong to encourage children to carry guns.  Just say it.  You'll feel better.  And you can still love the NRA.

"Seriously, you  believe the NRA stories means they would arm all children ?"  No, I never said that.  I said that rewriting classic children's stories to arm children with guns so they can protect themselves from predators suggests that the writer (and the NRA, since the stories are posted on their "family" website) believes it is a good thing to do.  I specifically asked you what you think the motivation for rewriting the stories was, if not that.  And you have not answered, as usual.  I also specifically asked you to provide evidence that having guns in a home with children makes them safer, and you have not answered, as usual.

You have a very Pollyanna way of describing the situation. How about the apartheid that is being practiced as a part of the process. Some innocence I would say!

I wish people would read the the unabridged history and not the propaganda that poses as history to get a good look at the reality of the situation in Israel. ahorseback it is honestly mind blowing that people are so liberal to every group but the Jews. Just like the Bible said thousands of years ago. The liberal people will not agree with anything in the Bible. If it said red was red, they would say it was blue. If we told them they were wrong, we would be prejudice lol. God bless us living with such closed minds who think they are actually open.

That the bible said, thousands of years ago, that other "nations" would persecute a violent group prone to warring on others and taking their land because "God told me to" is not surprising.  The same can be said of a group that declares they are better than anyone else because they're "God's chosen".  That's not particularly conducive to peaceful relations - just look at the middle east to see what it does.

In my adult life I've never harmed or hated. Yes I have moved from the US. Because GW Bush thinks I'm a terrorist because I refused to sculptor him a war scene, how horribly sad.

10s of millions of People are wise to move from their homes or families if need be. Out of Afghanistan, Iraq, Syria many other countries because America is killing millions of them.

American's rapes and plunders all over the world. The main reason they invaded Germany, (a white Christain nation) is because it was there job to own the world as bullies as they are.

If some sick and tired Americans want to burn their flags or passports. Hell it's just a tiny bit of fabric, they can let their bosses go steal millions more tons of it.  By their guns and nukes they bully wideworld into the greatest fear, slavery and posioning of their food, that human history has ever known.

You give hate you get hate. Try giving them true love and their own freedom and keep NRA guns away from your own kids.  If not, the very poor whites and 86% people of color will be coming to take their lives back. It's already happening and I've envision it clearly in my nightmares. Who side will you be on when they land their boats on you?

Yes many Mexican still run to the boarder usually for the love of money. Now, many Mexicans are running back.

Because according to an American bias UN polls. For the happiest countries in the world, Mexico ranks higher than US for happiness. Along with 10 million running American who live there, some for asylum.

Mexicans  happier ? What a joke  .Interesting that in Mexico, not unlike Canada too  ,  that  the indigenous populations are and have  been persecuted  by the governments themselves  though ,  I just listened to a talk Radio report of how America sent over sixty million dollars in the year 2014 to the Mexican Government .      Now , the media loves to only expound upon how 67% of America wants a wall  built yet   the Mexican government is totally persecuting   native AND central American Indians and criticizing America for wanting a wall !    I'd like to know what the hell is wrong with the mainstream media in America , to say nothing about outside media sources Simply unanswerable I suppose .
So I have some advice that isn't anything new at all but will always be valuable , If you don't like America and it's supposed  economic and  immigration  deficiencies  , take a hard look at REAL persecution , at REAL  economic warfare , at REAL racial genocide ,   go just beyond the  southern borders of America , I've been there and seen enough  to know a country that's truly tyrannical ,  racially  unjust and   economically  fascist ,I have listened to Indigenous natives in Mexico talk about  their government ,    For that matter , some of the most racially biased  nations , some of the most genocidal governments in the world are European nations .

But go ahead  , dis- America , it feels good huh ?

America and Mexico both have extreme ghettos and some amazing places to live. Having lived in both I'm happier in Mexico and a have house in Belize. I feel less safe in America became of guns and greed. NRA teaching kids about guns is just one of too many dangerous things.

I have a tough love for America has it's been the source of most best and worst ideas that spreads worldwide.

World's worst ideas weapon of mass destruction, toxic products and centre banking system. Bank is the worst and forces on the people, for people would not choose these ideas in their hearts. It's truly these ideas are the mother load of bad ideas on earth.

Centro bank have invaded 99% of our landscape of the planet. Our only salvation is for the people to take control or they will destory every part of all our live including world depopulation. I doing one more thread on these hubpages about banks and then I'm done.

Or with someone that thinks a bullet has an intent of it's own.  Or can kill without a person to send it on it's way.  Or without gunpowder to propel it or a gun barrel to guide it.  Might as well say it's that dab of gunpowder that is the killer and should be put on trial, don't you think?  After all, the bullet's intent is likely to remain just as it is rather than destroy itself by hitting bone - it would surely be my intent were I a lead slug crimped into a brass jacket sitting in a gun that is having the trigger pulled by a person.

It was you, after all, that pointed out (quite correctly) that a killer exhibits an intent...

Since we are talking about kids with guns.

Junk food vs real food would be mostly in the 10 top most common ways to die. If  the parents stock the whole house with junk food for 18 years.

Would not the child be unhealthier and have his/her very life in much more danger than stocking the house with real food.

Now consider a child with a gun vs  baseball bat, a knife or anything, or take another pick.

What is more deadly or harmful? If you teach a child or an aldult fool how to use a gun?  Since the other weapons were not designed kill, there no sense in teaching kid how to kill with them, unless they live in Iraq.

But what does your hypothetical scenario have to do with anything?  Is it designed to "prove" that all the statistics are wrong - that taking guns away will result in fewer deaths?  (Did you know that more people are killed in the US without any weapon at all than with long guns, including the dreaded "assault" rifles?)

I can't imagine running out of ideas to kill anyone. If it did come down to horseman life or mine. I'll certainly win that fight. Sorry horseman, I kind of like you.

In a cage fight you start off in a corner and come out fighting. I can throw a knife more accurately than be could throw a sword. Yet, both methods would lose to six bullets. Don't bring a knife to a gun fight. How many people have swords at home, Ok lets pretend this is horseman househole to be more fair.
If 6 bullets  does not kill him. I would finish him off with his own weapons. Since I've been skilled with craving tools all my life.

I can only hope I would not blow my own brains out for doing such horrible things to horseman.   He would not even be able to respect me for my skills because he is dead, game over.

Being pro choice, it is the final choice of the mother. I choose to keep my child and luckily my ex wife did too. If a child is born into a World without the ultimate love from his/her orginal mother. That person will most likely suffer greatly throughout life. Ultimately I want every person on earth to experience more happiness rather than more suffering.

Also under the situation of the people suffering too much like chronic illness , elderly and so on.

Horse you want for other authority's to decide a person's life here and overseas who they know so little about. Meanwail when these authority's won't give a dam if you live or die or how much your suffering in life.

Nobody in the world knows me better than I know myself. Anything physically major wrong with me. I get 3 or 4 doctors options and always it's  end up with a good naturopathic doctor.

Meaning you are your own best doctor in the world. You ultimately make final choice's what you put into you body or the choice to life that comes from your body. Most people I don't trust with my body. Who could care for my body greater then me. Who knows better about my body and the choices I make than me.NO BODY!

If you want to be an ultimate pro lifer. Foam a human chain around every gravesite. Don't let them in no matter how they are suffering. Let their slave masters decide their fate, it won't be pretty.
