Donald Trump on Friday wondered aloud what would happen to Hillary Clinton should her Secret Service detail disarm.

"I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons. They should disarm. I think they should disarm immediately, what do you think, yes?," he said.

"Take their guns away, she doesn't want guns. Take them, let's see what happens to her. Take their guns away, okay. It will be very dangerous."

What is suppose to happens to her?
What does Trump has in mind? roll

Oh, sure. He loves to joke around.

In Northern Ireland, during the "Troubles", that kind of talk was made illegal, as it was considered to be incitement. It is still illegal here.

I'll bet Trump carries a concealed weapon.  If he goes to the White House, I don't think he's going to dismiss the Secret Service.  Not him.

The President doesn't have a choice about the Secret Service. If he/she is assassinated, it causes a lot of problems in the country. You have to think beyond your own self. Do you really think the President, the nominees, Obama's family, enjoy not being able to go anywhere spontaneously for 8 years? They can't go to a store, or drive.

But they all need protection. You apparently want to act like Trump is John Wayne. He had his own bouncers and private security way before Bernie Sanders did.

Is there no end to the madness? Do you guys really not get the point?

No wonder this country is in a state of turmoil. The point was the hypocrisy.

That was the point, as it has been all along even before Trump used the talking point...(but free speak should be illegal when Trump says that).   I might have used that talking point on a gun topic thread, I certainly have thought it.

Seriously,  Hillary and Trump need their armed details, both of their lives are in grave danger of being assassinated.  I pray for both of their safety, even though I don't like Hillary, I don't want her to get killed or die of some illness.

Because there is no dirt on Trump, it has to get nit-picky, SPUN, or the opposition has to completely make things up.  Election years are crazy and we haven't seen anything yet.  Next they will have Trump eating babies.

Its a little hard to get hypocrisy humor, I suppose.  wink
Now "what will happen to her" means violence?  sigh

Trump railed against Clinton’s gun control policies, saying she wants to “destroy your Second Amendment.”

Hypocrisy? Do you receive frequent death threats from nut jobs who don't like your politics? Do you spend your days in front of large crowds of people, any one of which could be a budding John Hinckley? Do you have people hanging your body from a tree in effigy, like happened here in Oregon?

If these things are happening to you, then by all means hire some armed security.

You still don't get it. It's like prohibition was. Name something illegal that you have no intention of denying yourself of.

I would assume someone getting death threats would understand that firearms serve a purpose for others as well as themselves.

Yes, I get it.  When did Hillary propose repealing the 2nd Amendment or banning guns?  Unless she did that, then Trump's inflammatory statements are rubbish and only meant to appeal to his basket of deplorables.  As the OP stated, he knows his people.  You must feel all warm and fuzzy cuddled up to them in that basket.

I'm not cuddled up to anyone. I simply find the idiocy of these threads (from both sides) pathetic.

This thread is not idiotic.  Trump's inflammatory statement, on the other hand, is about as idiotic as one can get, given that Clinton has never proposed banning guns or repealing the 2nd amendment.  Yet, you think those who point that out and Trump's not-so-subtle suggestion that Clinton would exposed to assassination, are the ones engaging in "madness."

"Is there no end to the madness? Do you guys really not get the point?
No wonder this country is in a state of turmoil. The point was the hypocrisy."

Trump is a dangerous authoritarian.  Those who say so are not the crazy ones.

I think we can't necessarily go by what a candidate says on any given day. We have no idea who they were attempting to woo at that particular moment. But, her statement concerning the Australian style laws on gun confiscation are troubling and, considering how the office of the president has repeatedly overstepped the boundaries by bypassing Congress it is even more so.

Sorry. I think we can't be certain where she stands. Erring on the side of caution on this seems rather prudent.

Where did the reference to basket of deplorables come from? It sounds infantile. Is hillary alluding to her own dirty laundry in some freudian way? As far as trumps rhetoric... What difference does it make?? Butcher of Benghazi , blame it on a video. Then quit.

Trump only knows the wealthy, the gamblers (his casinos) his hookers (probably) and maybe his next wife-to-be.  Let's see...  I think that will be his 4th wife.  He can't commit to anything for long, can he?

Then let them carry knives or clubs.  Fewer innocent bystanders hurt, don't ya know?  And her guards are less likely to club themselves (or Hillary) in the foot, too.  Finally, the guards, suddenly going crazy, won't kill so many people.  No mass murders from insane security guys.

But we want those knives and clubs registered!  And sold only under tight committee control - committees that don't believe in knives and guns in private hands!

You know (even if you try to ignore it) that his statement was beyond that point.

"I think that her bodyguards should drop all weapons. They should disarm. I think they should disarm immediately, what do you think, yes?," he said.

"Take their guns away, she doesn't want guns."

That was enough to make his point. But of course he had to add, because that's what he always does.

He was having a bad week. His son and daughter cut interviews when the questions were tough, he couldn't capitalize enough on Hillary's health issues, his son's slip-of-the-tongue about the tax returns, and Obama's birth and the tax returns were issues in the news again.

For his campaign's sake, (because he's desperately trying to get black votes) he had to admit Obama was born in the US. He knew that was going to be an issue with his (crazy) voters. So he did what he always does. He replace the issue with more outrageous news.

He said something HE KNEW (as you do) was going to be controversial. Now the press is focus on that, and he gave his crazies something to chew on. The rest will make excuses for him... And until the next one.

      It's great free media coverage...

The problem is that his crazies are not to bright to understand his game. It's been proven. And he keeps referring to violence (directly or indirectly). Violence is going escalate if he keeps playing with fire.

      And that is no joke.

            Hello Island Bites,
I think Hillary was right when she called a lot of Trump followers "a basket of deplorables." I know he is attracting some normal Republicans, but a large percentage are racists, bigots, women haters, angry people and such. Hillary is really what a normal, moderate Republican used to be. She's not even close to being a Progressive Democrat. She's a hawk. She let herself get pushed farther left by Sanders than she feels comfortable. But at least she is sane.

Now Trump is trying to pin his whole birther movement on Hillary. Nobody questioned this before him, or thought they needed armed militias before we had a Black President in this country. It's despicable. I watched both Conventions, and Hillary NEVER said she wanted to abolish the 2nd amendment. Trump lies about everything, and has dumb voters who believe whatever they hear (I'm not saying all his voters are dumb). His products are all made out of China, yet he claims he wants to bring back American jobs. When Hillary says she wants to stop unsafe coal mining, she intends to bring jobs making clean energy.

And what about debates? Trump already was telling the news media what he learned in his private talks about what he needs to know intelligence wise. He can't even shut up about that. They should skip debates. He will just keep insulting her, yelling over her, and lying. It will be like a cage match. Moderators can't say they are lying, and I can't think of moderators who can tell them to stop the nonsense when it comes down to only insults. The bar is always lowered for Trump. He did OK last time when they each had a separate half hour, though it was stupid to do that whole show on the Intrepid for such a short time. Trump got easy questions he could answer with one liners, and Hillary got all the hard, policy questions which had longer answers, and Matt Lauer kept cutting her off. The media created this monster Trump, and now he's making death threats to Hillary. I don't even want to see anymore.

Both Trump and Hillary have and will have armed Secret Service there to protect them.

The point is the American people's Constitutional Second Amendment rights need to be protected, and that means not letting Hillary select Supreme Court judges as president.

I didn't know about an effigy of Hillary hanging in a tree in Oregon.   sad

There have been many Trump pinata hangings, getting dragged, beaten, kicked, stepped on and even beheaded on the campaign trail.  They appeared to be mostly illegal immigrants in the border states.  sad

Some protesters must have very strong feelings of hatred that they have expressed. They are few.  Thankfully, most American voters do not go along with their displays of hate.

ADDED:  Hopefully, those idiots let off enough steam already, and are done hanging effigies.
