It's kind of stunning how much you're missing the point that's being made. Nobody is complaining about a legitimate meeting with a foreign official.
And you mean like , when foreign leaders even meet with political candidates , not yet elected . Some advice , If you're one of the liberal "fact-finders " and you start following conspiracy trails of your opponent to dig dirt , you'd better clean the dirt off your own candidates first , that's My point !
Even better than digging dirt and getting it all over yourself, how about getting to know you supposed opponent(s), learning about some common needs, aspirations and objectives?
For example, if you are conservative, talk with a liberal and vice versa. If you are a capitalist, talk with a communist. If you're religious, talk with the atheist.
Talk to listen and learn, not primarily to tell.
Or is this all too difficult?
Johnny , I'm amazed ! Your sounding more and more like an activist conservative . Right now however , Trump is too busy sweeping up the pieces of Obama's mess' , Obama Care - total failure ---- The complete Fiasco of the "Arab Spring " began by Queen Hilary ------ The economic melt down began by the "Free cell phone " strategies in Obama-nomics ,etc.
Hello jonnycomelately,
Sage advice. But, it is a real buzz killer for too many political discussion junkies.
GA
Apparently what an outsider like yourself doesn't get in your daily news "Down Under "; Is that conservatives by nature are quiet , unassuming , intelligent , very informed and again --conservative ! AND by that , by being conservative , -you may at this point look up the definition yourself , -They -we, want less from their government , meaning a smaller central government , less expensive , more efficient , unobtrusive in the liberties and in pursuits of general happiness.
In America , The opposite of conservative ideology Is considered liberal ideologies , meaning in todays reality , "Gimme "....free everything - more government involvements in all phases of our lives , more taxation in all phases of our lives , meaning far less liberty from central government .
My mistake here is trying to explain to you how " Listening to Others " as you suggest ; Simply means acknowledging that My ideology HAS TO GIVE more to your ideology , more of what you want - Free Stuff from taxation of others !
So , No thank you .
I am fully hearing what you are saying and, to some extent agree with you.
But my point is that you have categorised conservatives and liberals into two main camps, and tarred each one with a blanket assessment. There is very little room to move in your arguments, because you seem to be very biased. Can you see that there are so many different views with both those two main groups, thus it's unreasonable to have a strong anti- either side?
I see such biases as not conducive to more understanding, only to more and more rhetoric, more and more antagonism, more and more .... lack of understanding.
Within the desire to provide welfare services to the poor is, ironically, a very "Christian" ethic. Yet it's mainly conservative christians who want to see the back of welfare services.
Wrong at the end , right in the beginning Jonny . Conservative government and it's support populace has always supported the philanthropies , the welfare programs ,The work programs , the Social securities , the guaranteed minimum wages , even the Stimulus packages ! It isn't these or the social services that we oppose , it is the manifest entitling of them to all classes of the population BY the NEW LIBERAL America . THAT is where the two ideologies differ .
Pretty simple.
All of the rhetoric that you and I involve ourselves in is just that ;end zone rhetoric , the compromise is in the working houses of government , Although in general , liberal ideologies have advanced in recent years at a quickened pace. Until now .
As my boss says, talk to anyone you like, just don't sell them the farm.
