Do Andrew Jackson & Barack Obama have similarities in their approach to governance?

Jackson was a states' rights advocate, but also a unionist. Obama is a loyal party man and an authoritarian. Obama is a well-read lawyer while Jackson never read anything but the Bible. Both men were, however, great politicians. They are both good at being vague about their policies in order to walk a middle road during the campaign.

Jackson was considered "the peoples president", Obama is anything BUT the peoples president. Jackson lead forcefully and with strong convictions as a "self-made man", Obama has little experience, flip-flops and backpeddles on certain topicss, and quite honestly doesn't even really lead at all.

The only similarity I can see is that both men (as Old Epresario stated) are rather vague at times and both men had a grasp on the spoken word and knew the power contained in the use of words.
