Why do we continue to send money overseas when we have deep poverty in our own inner cities?
How is that in this rich country, federal and/or private funds have not long since gone in and rehabbed inner cities, supported or subsidized businesses establishing plants, industry, in these areas to provide jobs?
This question has been asked by Americans for many years. It is especially important today to help the American people more but politics plays a major decision in providing foreign aid.
We also pride ourselves on being a role model for the world as far as being a humanitarian nation..
It is not "we", at least not me. It is the politicians that the voters (stupid, ignorant, greedy, shortsighted, gullible...) elect that rob taxpayers and send the spoils to others here and abroad.
The reasons all boil down to power and control. Humanitarian? Only so they can appear humanitarian.
