I think the vast majority of people would rather not take orders from anyone. However without certain rules and guidelines we would find ourselves living in anarchy.
The old question of where does my freedom end and yours begins can become a sticky issue.
From the days of the "10 Commandments" to the constitution, and living under our parent's rules to working under a supervisor there is never any escape from being "told" what to do. Even a business owner has to listen to what his/her customers want in order to succeed.
(These are agreed to rules by society or "at will" policies we have signed on for)
Having said all of the above I believe in fighting against those who simply desire to manipulate, control, and abuse others simply because of their power hungry ego. Some people are dificult to get along with!
As the line from the famous "Invictus" poem goes:
" I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul...."
if you look at all the laws that get passes you would think that people need to be told how to live . it drives me crazy when i see do-gooders asking the government to make new laws for everything we do. personally i think society is becoming weak and that in the end it's going to cause freedom to be a thing of the past.

In discussion here on hubpages, we hear some accuses religion people of being judgemental and more over accuses religious people of forcing their believes and policies on the American people through laws...That is not the religion or people I know.
