   I dream of it often. I am sure many do. But could it ever happen?

   I don't think so unless we all started thinking alike and I doubt that will happen anytime soon.  That oooor we could learn to tolerate others decisions as a whole, and that's not going to happen either I fear.

   Not as long as the Human backside points towards the ground or there are humans left in the world !
   
   Depressing as that sounds,  until we can remove religious bigotry, ignorance, selfishness and greed from our society peace will be impossible.

   The answer to that question is yes, but not until the Millennium. Why that time, because that is when as Merlin Fraser has said: "we can remove religious bigotry, ignorance, selfishness and greed from our society" Those things including pride and arrogance will be gone.

   i doubt very much it will ever happen. with the different kinds of government, religions etc., world peace is nothing but a dream. if anything, i see the world becoming more corrupt and having more conflict.

   Sure, you can get it...just as soon as every tin-horn power-hungry dictator of some third world country dies;  just as soon as the religious zealots of the world give up and go back into their caves; just as soon as every thieving politician willing to sell your soul for the pocket changes loses their position in elected office; And most importantly, just as soon as you and I and others who have bathed in the freedom of life willingly give up our rights and cater to the desires of others who hunger to have that control....world peace? No problem! WB

   Not possible.  Civilization would collapse, it is not a part of our DNA, nor is it a part of any monotheistic religion, or level of nature.  All things are in flux, all things change, the pendulum that swings to the right will swing to the left.  The moment you stop looking even longing for external peace, you will find a type of internal peace that evaporates the desire for the "external peace."
