How is it possible for a non-U.S. citizen to receive rights under the U.S. Constitution?

I am referring to foreigner (with no U.S. citizenship), a terrorist, or enemy combatant.  How/why would a Gitmo detainee(for example) be given the same privilege to be protected under a constitution meant for U.S. Citizens?

It is possible due to the sheer stupidity of those we have put in charge of our government.  This is a fine example of what having too many lawyers can do to a country.  Those who wish to manipulate our society have taken warped concepts like political correctness and to some extent even the playing or race and religion cards to leverage America to do the heartfelt emotional things we should for these people.  In my way of thinking, there is a point where a man crosses the line between being a sponsor and becoming a fool.  When you cross that line, even the ones you are supposedly attempting to help are laughing at your stupidity behind your back...that is the line we have so crossed in America today.  WB
