Can Politicians be held accountable?
Much of the weakening of our countries strength has been created by the personal beliefs of our countries politicians. Many voters have taken the steps to have there voice heard but yet it still has been ignored. What can you suggest that we can do as an American Voter to be heard and not only heard but recognized for the change we are demanding by seeing the change by our elected officials
as a canadian i think a law needs to be passed that state that any politician who is caught frading, falsifying or any other form of coruption should have their pension removed and criminal charges be set. we had a scandal here in 2010 where the head of a health department illegaly gave out millions of dollars in cintracts to friends. she resigned when she was caught but she was given $387,000.00 severence pay and she will keep her full pension. that's just wrong but it's what we have for sitting back and letting the government control us.
We vote every two years, that's the normal process for holding politicians accountable when you disapprove of performance.
House procedures provide for censorship by Congress, basically a dressing-down and public reprimand that is advertised to the public and recorded as part of Congressional record.
Additionally, and if I recall correctly, districts can initiate recalls of their representative.
For major crimes (like treason), Congress can impeach representatives, and have them removed from office.
Yes and no...for the damage they have done...not likely except that we do not re-elect them. For what we have as a debt in theis country, the politicians who have served in the last 30 years should be doing jail time. We can change the face of our political scene by letting those who aspire to office know that we understand and will not tolerate cheats, frauds, and BS....that requires focus...something the American public is short on today.
