Hydroelectric generators are normally designed in a redundant production fashion so that there is more than more one generator to creat the electricity. In fact, the sheer need and the capability of a single generator dictates that more than one unit is needed.  This allows the systems to be shut down and reworked, rebuilt, etc as required without the electric grid going without power generation.  Redundancy is always a good consideration in designing systems for public use ranging from utilities to transportation.
