In some ways, yes. Patriotism to me is the love, devotion, and support someone feels for their country and they are willing to die defending that country and it's people. The politics comes in when you vote for the people you think feel the same. You know they will adhere to their oath to protect and defend the country and its founding documents. If they can't or won't do that, you have that same patriotism - love, devotion, and support - to vote them out and give someone else the chance or be willing to do it yourself.
