What was the most difficult situation you've ever been in and how did you handle it?
If you didn't handle it as well as you'd like, what would you rather have done?
THE most difficult situation? Michaelmas, I've been in so many "THE" most difficult situations, I couldn't really pick just one.
One that comes to mind (of many many many) involved ex-wife #3 (of what would become a total of 6 exes before finally finding the right gal in #7). I'd left her on the run--literally--and about a year later, got the tomfool idea of maybe reconciling with her. Called her up (I was in San Diego, she in Montana), pitched the idea.
She was ecstatic.
Within days, I knew I'd messed up. Couldn't possibly go through with it. Now I had to break her heart all over again.
Toughest phone call I ever made.
What would I rather have done? Been smart enough to listen to that small inner voice that DID warn me not to suggest the reconciliation in the first place. You know how reinjuring yourself does a lot more damage than the original hurt?
Same thing here.
The most difficult situation I have ever been in was being told I was most likely not going to make it past the end of the week. I had a choice to either stop trying to fight Cancer or I could try to no avail. I fought harder than ever before and I lived. That was three years ago now. I am 100% Cancer free to this day and in the best shape of my life.
