What has been the best vacation you've ever been on, where was it, and why was it the best?

For some it's getting away from the hustle of the city to the mountains, beaches, and country, while others run to the cities for shopping, shows, and the nightlife.  Don't forget the childhood vacations even if they were to relatives, that left a lifetime of memories. What's your favorite and why?

The first is when my husband and I sailed over to Bimini and the second is when we took a flying road trip out west. I've hubbed about them all. We met amazing people, and saw amazing sights.

I've had so many of the best vacations, that I cannot choose one as the best. One was a trip to Germany and Romania. Another was to England and France. The earliest best vacation was a cruise to Mexico. They were my favorites for the different surroundings, cultures, food, and beauty.

You are definitely well traveled and other than Canada I have yet to get out of the US, but you give me inspiration.

I highly encourage traveling out of the US. Europe is one of my favorite places to visit. However, my father prefer's Asia and my mother, like most women, enjoys the beaches near the Gulf of Mexico.

The best vacation I have ever had occurred in Veracruz, Mexico, when I was 8 years old. I remember that my uncle took me and his family to Veracruz, and I was told that I was going to see the ocean there.

I remember that when we arrived to the port, it was just about getting dawn, and I was still asleep. My aunt woke up and told me ¨Look Jose Juan, the ocean.¨ I became completely mesmerized when I looked at the ocean for the first time.

We spent the whole day at the ocean playing and I liked the feeling of the the sand under my bare feet. We ate at a Palapa by the ocean and make the trip back home at night. I will always remember those days.

One of the most exciting was when I was 13 Mum & Dad took us back to Wales when I was 13 to spend time with our Nana & Grandad , Uncles, Aunts & Cousins . It was our first time on big planes as we had left Britain by ship in 1970 . We were very - very excited to be going across the world . I am so glad we did as my Grandad died a year or 2 later . I still remember blackberry picking with him !
I spent the night in hospital as we got food poisoning & I fainted , cut my head open on a gas heater - was a cute doctor there lol !! Will say this the best family holiday as it was new experiences - meeting family etc .
We have had a lot of holidays since & my second honeymoon on Sun Princess to Tasmania was awesome  !
This last holiday a few weeks ago with the man I love will be my best romantic holiday where we spent 2 days cruising the Whitsundays & I saw a whale while in the sea !

They all sound awesome, especially with your family back to Wales and the cute doctor. lol  I use to visit my Grandad on vacation when I was a child and the memories are still sensational.  Thanks for reminding me.

impossible to choose, but my trips to india, and treks in Nepal & India would all be contenders.  i've written hubs about many of them, but they still fail to capture the actual experience

Some years back we spent some time in Switzerland near Bern and we found this little village in the mountains that was just a picture postcard - Lauterbrunnen!

If the pictures I've seen of Switzerland are anything close to reality it is breathtaking.
