Are there way more conservatives than moderates/liberals on hubpages or is that just my perception?
Hard to say. I've come across a lot of liberals, as well as conservatives on Hubpages.
I think it is pretty even. Depending on the topic you write on will get a certain response from 1 side.
Definately a higher quantity of conservatives vs liberals in Hubpages. If you browse Middle Eastern political issues, such as I do, it's obviously tilted in a certain direction. . .
200K+ hubbers and counting will definitely yield some degree of both. However, a good indicator is the variety/topic of questions being asked. I tend to see numerous with religious or superstitious overtones...Hence, the neocon perspective.
Great question Shannon! I have pondered this myself and wondered if I was being 'one-eyed'. From my perusal of questions and hubs to date I'd have to say it tends more to the conservative side than liberal. But that is from my observations only.
it really seems as though there are more conservatives on hubpages. the exasperating thing is that while they are usually quite articulate, their arguments use right wing sources as citations.
however, that's less of a problem than the clear attitude of most that no matter what is shown them, no minds can be changed. i'm also surprised at the vehemence against obama personally. i can't remember public reaction to any politician like this. it's disturbing that they believe he can't do anything right. identifying him as a communist or socialist is ridiculous. i'm afraid that the thing he's guilty of is being non-white. we can't go back to that in this country.
Funny how your perception is skewed to begin with....why is it that conservatives aren't moderates? Shouldn't your question be ...conservatives, moderates or liberals?
I see a pretty good mix here - but considering it is an enterprise I may expect it to be more conservative overall.
I agree. I think there was not a single day this week that some fundie asked another mindless and redundant question about God, Satan or those idiotic doomsday predictions like May 21 or some other nonsense. This country is doomed as these people are breeding ignorance and stupidity to a whole new level. Maybe Hubpages should change the name to dumbpages soon...
The whole concept of these categories - conservatives and liberals - is so cliche. I think a better distinction is between logical thinkers and dimwits.
this made me LOL today...

Interesting question Shannon.
I haven't been on Hubpages for too long and my perception may be naïve but some of my experience thus far is that many political and spiritual Hubbers seem to know their positions a little too adamantly. They're using Hubpages as sort of a (perverted version) of a soapbox---left or right.
But what frustrates me to no end is that most of these know-it-alls don't respect me enough as a reader to use appropriate citations to their "facts" or views. In other words, it's all perception and no substance. If it's not a personal experience, than cite or link it for pity sake! Even Wikipedia is good enough here because it is at least a place I can go and understand whre the hubber is coming from!
Just review the comments here. Is there such word as "apolitical?" I believe he meant non-politcal or stupid, I don't know. So how can I accept this hubber's comment? Really. Enough said.
There are some hubs which are informational, educational and even amusing because they seem researched (though they need to site their sources nonetheless). They also appear intellegently written.
I hope this raw and inexperienced view is useful. If not, I may become a pariah just yet!
I am EXTREMELY political and strongly [blank]-winged. Perhaps from some of my hubs, you may see a certain slant, if you look hard enough (especially my latest hub.)
That said, I don't engage in anything political or religious here on HubPages. I very seldom even state a strong opinion for something (even though I'm extremely idealistic.) This is because I think there is a time and place for these things.
I can't stand hubs that tout opinions from one side of the fence or the other and I have downvoted hubs that are vicious (or downright stupid) attacks of "the other side" regardless of whether the hub was geared toward right or left winged ideals.
I personally wish that politics and religion weren't discussed on HubPages AT ALL. So much hatred come from it. Really, check out the religion and politics forums, they are nothing but hurtful, name calling fights where nobody is right, everyone is just stupid. If I could change anything about HubPages, it would be to remove those forums and disallow "ranting" hubs.
However, you can't completely disallow politics as pretty much anything can be taken in a skewed way:
"I had fun in [INSERT_COUNTRY_HERE]"
"You must be a ____ because _____ is a ____-winged country]
To all those mean-spirited, narrow-minded, intolerant, Bible-thumping, right-wing conservatives and polyannaic childish free sex condom passing abortion loving far left wing alcohol drinking, cigarette smoking, pot smoking, pill poping, (except for medicinal purposes) lazy moochers.who let their hair and feet fungus grow under their noses. - "GET A LIFE" - MODERATES - RULE!
(DISCLAIMER) --- No one discribed above has been Identified by me as being able to change anything without affecting all the others.!
I have seen a few of both. Although I too agree with melbel, Having grown up in a secular world experiencing the good in that type of living I usually stay out of discussions/topics about politics and religion in public.
I hope there would be enough (no) wing topics to participate in hubpages.
I only joined recently, but from my observation so far, there are definitely more conservatives than liberals on hubpages - either that, or they are simply more "vocal."
I have seen plenty of lefties about but many of the right-wingers are on the crazy end of spectrum and stand out more. I actually thought about leaving hubpages because of some of the conservative extremism on here as I didn't want to be associated with it, but I enjoy writing the articles and I would never link to one of them anyway.

I am taken back to the site 'unskewed polls' where the conservatives were saying that the mainstream polling system was unfairly skewed in favor of Mr. Obama.
