Do you live in a regulated historic district? What are your thoughts about your local guidelines?
No, I don't live in a district, but I do live near a town that has such a district.
None of us are always pleased with restrictions on the property we own, but we need to support some of the local laws that truly support preservation of historic structures and relics.
In 'our town' the history is an economic benefit to the community, but even more important, it gives tangible evidence of history that books can't quite do. We have a certain obligation to those who came before us, and a vested interest in those who follow, for the sake of understanding where we came from.
