Monday, Jan. 20, 2025 will be an amazing, historic inaugural of the new president.

Only the 1789 inauguration of President George Washington and the deeply threatened first inaugural of President Abraham Lincoln in 1861 will remain more significant in historic terms. However, it will rival the 1933 inauguration of President Franklin Delano Roosevelt during the Great Depression.

This event will mark the second time a former president is inaugurated to return to the White House after a term out of office. Only President Grover Cleveland in 1892 was able to do that until now.

It is also an important milestone in the effort to Make America Great Again. The nine-year saga of then-candidate Donald J. Trump is amazing. He came out of nowhere in 2015 and beat 16 strong Republican candidates. He defeated establishment heir Hillary Clinton. He immediately went to war with the national establishment, including the fruitless two-year Robert Mueller investigation and two impeachment efforts. The 2020 election was rigged by a biased media and liberal billionaires. Despite this, President Trump recovered and completely dominated the GOP. He faced two assassination attempts and constant lawfare from Democratic attorneys nationwide. He then quickly adjusted after the collapse of President Biden’s candidacy – and the sudden establishment coronation of Vice President Kamala Harris. Despite Harris receiving $1.5 billion in donations in 107 days, Trump swept all seven key swing states. He won the electoral college by a decisive 312-226 and earned the support of more than 77 million Americans. President Trump’s path to this inauguration was a personal odyssey of historic proportions.

President Trump will enter office with a specific reform program that mortally threatens the national establishment. Not since populist President Andrew Jackson entered office in 1829 with a plan to replace the Bank of the United States with a system of state banks has a reformer brought such a clear commitment to profound change.

In his first term, President Trump advocated civilian space development and a U.S. Space Force to ensure American control of space. His friendship with Elon Musk will allow him to enter office as the president most likely to establish Americans on the Moon, begin the colonization of Mars, and insure America is protected from threats on and beyond our planet. This will make him an historic figure for the entire future of mankind.

Yada yada yada .....EGGS.  absolutely no one is interested in colonizing Mars.  Trump and his Central casting team better kick it into high gear tomorrow. He's expected to make good on a bevy of promised giveaways.

Trump’s approval is weak. A new Marist/NPR poll puts it at just 44%; 49% say they disapprove of him. The Economist/YouGov poll gives him a similar 45/51 split, while a USA Today/Suffolk University survey has his favorability/unfavorability at 47% each...

Thanks for bringing up food-related metaphors! Eggs certainly come into play here—after all, the Democrats seem to have egg all over their faces. And let's not forget grapes—they absolutely have their place, particularly as sour grapes. Speaking of polls, do I need to remind anyone of Trump’s approval ratings on the day he was elected? Plenty of sour grapes there too. For those of us who feel vindicated, we’ll be savoring the wine made from all those sour grapes. Cheers!

Here in Michigan, we pay $7 and up.... If Michigan's governor passed a law requiring all chickens to be raised as free-range, it could significantly impact the egg market in the state. Free-range farming typically involves higher production costs compared to conventional caged or cage-free systems because it requires more space, labor, and resources to ensure the welfare of the chickens.  Our Governor leans far left.

Chickens, and their welfare, are far more important than mere people, right?  Thus speaks the left.

Oh yes, so much more important---- More important than the American hostages that have been captive for over a year---- hopefully they were dinning on free-range eggs and chickens.  Perhaps we need to check if the illegal migrants now in our country are getting the same...

I mean have you in your entire life heard anything more ridiculous? Prioritize chickens over affordability when prices are so high that we have many in our nation that can't afford chicken, but may have been able to afford eggs...  I am very happy to see the Democrats wearing eggs on their faces.

We can't find the two dozen option any longer --- only the 5 dozen for 20$  --- However our Costco's can only sell eggs from free-range chickens.

I see you can buy lots of 15 dozen eggs at Costco. They are out-of-stock for the 5 dozen deal for $21.09 local to me. When I peeked I focused on what would be practical for me. Two dozen would be practical whereas 5 dozen wouldn't.

Well, aren't we the proverbial "space cadet", Mike?

      American control of space????

The backside of the moon is a pretty lonely place for one to find oneself in an Elon Musk contraption.

We haven't returned to the Moon yet and created and any viable outposts as a common sense springboard to Mars or beyond. The stuff you Rightwingers talk about is found on the back of my cereal box.

So, now, I am to believe that the "Boy Wonder" can speak of human colonies on Mars? The technology is daunting and simply is not here.  I doubt that any serious attempt can be made toward that objective within his lifetime.

          Let's not deflect.

"Starting on Day One, we will end inflation and make America affordable again.” Aug. 9, 2024 / Bozeman, Mont.

"Groceries, cars – everything. We're going to get the prices down.” Sept. 29, 2024 / Erie, Pa.

“That means we're going down and getting gasoline below $2 a gallon.” Sept. 5, 2024 / Economic Club of New York

While working Americans catch up, we're going to put a temporary cap on credit card interest rates at 10%.” Sept. 24, 2024 / Savannah, Ga.

          Oh really love this one...

By eliminating regulations “We will eliminate regulations that drive up housing costs, with the goal of cutting the cost of a new home in half.” Sept. 5, 2024 / Economic Club of New York

End the war in Ukraine in “24 hours” once he is in office
“First, I’ll meet with Putin, I’ll meet with Zelensky. They both have weaknesses and they both have strengths. And within 24 hours that war will be settled. It will be over. It will be absolutely over.” May 11, 2024 / CNN town hall

That's not even half of the day one promises  he's made....

Talking about space is laughable.  Leave that to VP Musk and his own money .. people can't afford eggs, but you want to talk about space?

But as far as him fulfilling campaign promises,  so we can look back to his first term...

PolitiFact, tracked 102 promises Trump made during his 2016 campaign and found that he had broken 53% of them, kept 23% and compromised on 22%.

Not particularly, for it is obvious that we desperately need  to be there, learning and living.  Only fools think it is a waste of time and money to go to space; the evidence has been building for decades just how much we gain from such an endeavor.

What percentage of his voters list the space program as a top concern or priority? It's groceries. The top concern is inflation.  He is expected to reduce all things grocery this week....no excuses.  No look here not there...Americans don't give a sh*t about space or Greenland or any of the other nonsense used to distract when eggs are $8 a dozen...

Not this MAGA woman! I’m so excited about the potential for the U.S. to become the largest chip maker in the world, and Greenland could play a key role in making that happen. Hopefully, Trump can negotiate a fantastic deal to access those valuable minerals!

This is why I prefer a businessman as president over a lawyer—while lawyers may be skilled at talking, they often lack the ability to negotiate effectively, demonstrate strength in dealings, and truly understand the art of striking deals.

Your blurb about "Day One promises" most likely took you some time.

Do you feel people who voted for Trump were so unintelligent to feel all could be done in a day?   If so--- I got a dozen eggs I can sell you.

He told you they're day one promises... Those are his exact words.   I will take him at his word.

When I win, I will immediately bring prices down, starting on day one,” Trump said...

On August 15, Trump held a press conference in New Jersey, where he had a table full of groceries beside him. "Grocery prices have skyrocketed; how can a family afford that? So, when I win, I will immediately bring prices down," Trump said.

Keywords for one that might not grasp context too well would be the words "starting on day one". His actions on day one might very well start the process to bring down costs on not just foodstuff but all...  Wonder what you will have to say if he is successful in his endeavors. It almost seems as if you want him to fail--- does this go for the nation too?

Lol,  so all the people who have been whining about not being able to afford their groceries over the past years have just been misguided somehow?  They're all just going to stop complaining because??   It's about priorities.   You want to prioritize  space over people being able to afford groceries? Go ahead but that agenda is not going to be very popular.

There are several users here that need to go back and revisit their own posts over the last year about how Americans have suffered the high costs due to inflation.... Yet now are attempting to spin a narrative that these costs really aren't so bad and doesn't really matter if Trump brings them down or not...

YOU spin the narrative; you're pretty good at that.

Just in case you missed it; we belong in space.  It has done far more good for this country than we have paid for, and it is the future of mankind (either that or death).

As far as eating; there is plenty of slack in the welfare system to feed anyone that needs it - something I'm pretty sure you are aware of.

Don't much care about the whining, except to note that our  soon-to-be past president was very, very good at raising prices while assuring us that it wasn't happening.  But he will be gone tomorrow and we needn't worry about his inflationary tactics any more.

I completely agree with you Dan—space exploration is essential for humanity's progress. The idea that "we belong in space" makes perfect sense because space pushes us to innovate, dream big, and understand the universe better. It's given us way more than we've paid for and touches almost every part of our daily lives. Satellites power the internet, GPS, weather forecasting, and disaster relief, making our world more connected and safer.

Space programs have also brought us amazing medical advancements like MRI and CAT scans, telemedicine, and better prosthetics. Everyday items like memory foam, scratch-resistant lenses, and advanced water filters also come from space research. Plus, the industry fuels millions of jobs and drives breakthroughs in tech like robotics and AI. Collaborations like the International Space Station show how space unites countries for a common goal.

Scientifically, exploring space has taught us so much about our planet and the cosmos. Missions to Mars and the Moon inspire new generations to dive into STEM fields and spark curiosity about what’s possible. Beyond all the tangible benefits, space exploration is about hope, ambition, and ensuring a bright future for humanity. It’s not just looking to the stars; it’s about improving life here and preparing for what’s ahead.

Don't get me started on  Trump's Space Forse...  Whole other subject.

"If you describe someone's behavior or opinion as sour grapes, you mean that that person is angry because they have not gotten or achieved something that they wanted"

Anyone who followed and read the civil case brought by E Jean Carroll will find this funny.

Here is a video of her speaking to Anderson Cooper saying "This was NOT sexual.  She also says that most people think of rape as "Being Sexy."

        This is a disturbed woman.

Watch it for yourself.  This piece of evidence was not permitted to be played to the jury at trial.  It might have had a different outcome it it had.  Just more proof NY was out to get President Donald Trump.  Lets forget it allegedly happened 26 years earlier.  Let's forget she claimed there was evidence on a dress she had, then she was informed that particular design of dress wasn't sold until years after the alleged rape.  Let's forget NY changed a law so she could file a civil suit.  We also have to forget her lawsuit was funded by a billionaire democrat doner.

I think this video says it all.

Mike--- Thank you for posting this thread it gave me a chance to share my thoughts.

I couldn’t agree more with this inspiring comment. January 20, 2025, will undoubtedly be a historic day that solidifies Donald J. Trump’s legacy as one of the most resilient and transformative leaders in American history. His ability to withstand relentless attacks, from the Mueller investigation to two impeachments and beyond, shows an unparalleled strength of character. Trump’s deep love for America and unwavering commitment to its people have been evident every step of the way.

During his first term, he made incredible strides in revitalizing the economy, bringing manufacturing jobs back, and standing up to foreign adversaries with a boldness that few could match. His establishment of the U.S. Space Force showcased a visionary approach to protecting America’s future and ensuring our leadership in space exploration. Perhaps one of his most remarkable accomplishments was securing the Abraham Accords, a groundbreaking step toward bringing peace to the Middle East. This alone is a profound gift to humanity—a legacy of hope and unity for a region long plagued by conflict. It demonstrated Trump’s ability to broker unprecedented agreements and foster relationships that benefit not only the United States but the world.

Trump’s focus on law and order, securing borders, and empowering the American worker further underscored his dedication to putting America first. His ability to connect with everyday Americans and fight tirelessly for their interests is what makes him so beloved by millions. His return to the White House is a testament to his perseverance and the enduring support of the American people. It’s a powerful reminder that no matter how hard the establishment tries to suppress the will of the people, true leadership cannot be extinguished. I’m proud to stand with President Trump and look forward to witnessing the profound reforms and incredible accomplishments that will define his second term. Together, we’re making history, and together, we’ll continue to Make America Great Again.

I truly believe that Trump draws his strength from the people and is at his happiest when he’s with them. He has a genuine connection with Americans that is unmatched, and it’s clear that his mission to Make America Great Again is something he deeply believes in. Over the years, I’ve seen his passion for this mission grow stronger, fueled by his unwavering dedication to the country and its people. I have no doubt that he will continue to bring great things to America, creating opportunities and restoring pride in ways we haven’t seen in decades.

There’s a joy in the air that’s been missing for so long—a sense of hope and renewal that’s impossible to ignore. It’s a shame that some can’t see how special this moment is or recognize the extraordinary commitment Trump has to this nation. Those who dismiss him are truly missing out on something remarkable. For those of us who do see it, this is a time to feel proud and optimistic about what lies ahead for America.

Martin Luther King was jailed 29 times in his life, and I daresay that if Harriet Tubman could have been caught she would not have have been convicted of anything - just executed without trial.  Bertrand Russell was convicted under the "Defense of the Realm" act and sent to prison.  Mahatma Gandhi was jailed for years, multiple times.

The state seldom appreciates the efforts of people to change it, or the effort to remove key players in government.  It is not surprising that Trump joined a long list of people convicted of crimes for their politics.  He is in good company there.

*edit*  I about forgot perhaps the most famous: Galileo was placed under house arrest for the last 9 years of his life for utterances the "powers that be" in government did not like.  All absolutely true, but that doesn't matter much when politicians are disturbed.

I completely agree. Biden often seemed disconnected, and it was unsettling to hear so many stories about his struggles to remember things or articulate his thoughts. What’s even more baffling is how many in his inner circle, as well as his supporters, worked overtime to defend or downplay these bizarre moments. It’s refreshing to finally have a president who exudes leadership and gives people hope for the future. I have every faith that he will bring about positive change.

Trump, a two bit chiseler, comparable to Martin Luther King, Nelson Mandela, Jesus Christ, Gandhi?

Trump, A Lilly livered coward who would not so much as get the rug on his head wet, comparable to a real man like Theodore Roosevelt, don't make me laugh...

Stay tuned to the next installment of "As the Stomach Turns"....

Making up derogatory labels to apply to someone else is exactly what has been done.  Whether lilly livered, coward, rapist, misogynist or any of the other vile names concocted by the left to try and remove a political opponent, they are all nothing but childish name calling.

Comparisons, on the other hand, of things that have happened to both (in this case, legal machinations to imprison someone) are quite valid.  That you might disagree with other points of the two lives is irrelevant; in the matter under discussion they are similar if not identical.

What are you griping about, Wilderness, you got your man, right?  I will call him whatever I like and I am being kind when I do that. How do I remove him as I discredit him?

While you attack Woke and DEI, I will attack Trump as I see fit for any infraction or deviation from the proper course of governance on his part.

You come out taking a "rational" tack as part of an underlying deviance. The comparisons you make are shallow and frail at best. I don't compare someone like Trump with Gandhi, now THAT is absurd.

Liberals are starting to agree that President Donald Trump is the "‘greatest American figure of his era’

Politico editor-in-chief calls Trump ‘greatest American figure of his era’ due to his influence
John Harris said Trump's political opponents should face the fact that Trump is not a 'momentary anomaly'

Politico global editor-in-chief John F. Harris argued in a new piece that President Donald Trump’s second victory proves that he has dominated American politics so thoroughly that he will likely be counted among the country’s most consequential leaders.

Harris clarified that he was not describing Trump as a righteous or evil character, nor was he saying that Trump has been a successful president, but he reiterated that his impact is monumental either way.

"He is a force of history," Harris declared in his column published Tuesday.

The editor-in-chief said Trump’s second inauguration on Monday puts the president in an "entirely new light" – he is now "holding power under circumstances in which reasonable people cannot deny a basic fact: He is the greatest American figure of his era."

Harris explained that assessment of Trump is "an objective description about the dimensions of his record," noting how the president began by "dominating" the GOP nearly a decade ago and now dominates "every discussion of American politics broadly."

He noted that Trump’s second victory proves he is "not a fluke" despite his opponents in the media hammering his flaws for almost ten years. "He is someone with an ability to perceive opportunities that most politicians do not and forge powerful, sustained connections with large swaths of people in ways that no contemporary can match," the editor-in-chief stated, adding that he himself has been "slow" to see this power.

Harris went to say that Trump’s political opponents must do away with their strategy to paint Trump as a political aberration. "They cannot push Trump to the margins, by treating him as a momentary anomaly or simply denouncing him as lawless and illegitimate," he stated.

Harris continued by comparing Trump’s individual traits to those marking "the most consequential presidents."

"Like influential predecessors, his arguments have shifted the terms of debate in ways that echo within both parties — in this case, on issues such as trade, China, and the role of big corporations," he said, adding, "Like other large presidents, Trump has been a communications innovator and exploited technological shifts more effectively than rivals."

The author also pointed to Trump’s "uncommon psychological toughness" as a "signature shown by the most consequential presidents."

Fifty-eight percent of Americans said Trump should not pardon all people convicted of crimes related to their involvement in the January 6, 2021 Capitol insurrection, according to Reuters.

Oh yes, a great man with a great message... You violently assault police officers and there are no consequences associated with it... They should teach it in schools, right?

He has once again cut the legs out from under his own vice president, who said less than two weeks ago, “If you committed violence on that day, obviously you shouldn’t be pardoned.” Plenty of other Republicans took the same position that  Vance did and will now have to twist themselves into knots explaining their past comments and their vocal defenses of Trump, who has once again made them look credulous and foolish.

I'm so glad you brought up what should be taught in schools—I'm hoping he'll address that soon. He promised to dismantle the Department of Education, and I believe he will. I also agree with the pardons. The sentences were way out of line, and many of the charges were just as extreme.

Your reply is not appropriate to my comment. I did not defend violence. I said this, please note content --- "I also agree with the pardons. The sentences were way out of line, and many of the charges were just as extreme."   I am very much for the non-weaponization of our courts. I feel many of the sentences were harsh and excessive, in my view.

Your comment was presumptuous, and baiting.  You have no right to assume what I am thinking in any respect.

                  Shar,

There are two main aspects of being a liberal and a democrat.  They are double standards and hypocrisy.

Why would anyone on the left care about what the, "J6 hostages" as President Donald Trump call them, have done?

These are people who supported a president who pardoned murders and rapists on death row.  This is a president who pardoned people who have committed some horrible crimes.

"President Joe Biden has sparked outrage after commuting the sentence of Leonard Peltier in a last-minute move before leaving office Monday.

Peltier, 80, has spent nearly 50 years in prison after being convicted of the murder of two FBI agents on South Dakota's Pine Ridge Reservation in 1975. He also escaped from federal prison in 1979 while serving his sentence for the two murders and had five years tacked onto his sentence."

"Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin and Attorney General Jason Miyares criticized President Biden for granting clemency to two men convicted of the 1998 murder of Officer Allen Gibson.
Youngkin and Miyares stated that Ferrone Claiborne and Terence Richardson admitted responsibility for the killing and called the decision a "grave injustice" to the Gibson family.
Both men were acquitted of murder and firearms charges in federal court but remained in prison on drug trafficking charges. Biden commuted their sentences as part of a broader clemency effort.
Gibson’s family and Virginia officials expressed outrage, calling the clemency a betrayal of justice and a failure to honor Officer Gibson's sacrifice."

The list goes on and on and on.

Then, they complain about the J6 pardons?  Puh...leese!

I appreciate you sharing the facts about Biden's pardons. I completely agree that they were shocking, especially considering the serious crimes committed by many of those pardoned. I don't expect liberals here to engage with those facts; they tend to shy away and escalate their rhetoric about Trump instead. As for my perspective on typical liberals, it seems they often lack clear thinking. They can't seem to consider any viewpoint other than their own, and, in general, their views don’t make much sense to me. I find it hard to stomach the hypocrisy they display. I realize this is a strong statement, but it reflects my truth.

                      Shar,

I agree.  I will continue to state the one consistent thing about democrat left viewpoints is the double standards and hypocrisy of them.
