   Who do you think should be President of the United States in 2012?
   
   Please explain your answer. This election is very important to many people in this country. People either love our current President, or they hate him. Also, there huge debates over who should be the Republican canidate.

   I feel a woman shoould be the President, one that is very wise and can handle the critics.  And will probably need to own a Pope-mobile to keep from being shot at by some whacko.
   
   Its never been done before.  I think both men and biggoted women need to stop being her worst ctitic, because I think it is necessary and damn time.

   From a non-American, I would like to see Obama re-elected. Not because he's doing a great job or anything (not that the competition is any more competent), but it does wonders for race relations when people in third world countries see a black man leading the most powerful country in the world. Sad as it may be, people in China and India are still incredibly racist. Seeing Obama as the president of the United States helps to compel many of them to reconsider their views on race.

   In my opinion, Mitt Romney should be nominated as the Republican candidate for president and following that, he should be elected to that office.
   
   Among the primary reasons why I hold that opinion is I believe that four more years of Obama would be very harmful to this great nation and I also believe that Romney epitomizes the greatness of America.

   Given the options available, I will probably vote for Obama. Like all politicians, he is far from perfect. But considering the mess that he inherited, along with the hostility he faced from Republicans before he was even inaugurated, he has done remarkably well. I'm actually surprised that the situation in the country is not even worse.
   
   I also have not heard anything particularly innovative from Gingrich or Romney. It's just the same old story: cut taxes, deregulation, freedom, etc., etc., etc. We have been going down that road for a while, and I am not impressed with the results. And Romney's conservative tough talk when it comes to foreign policy makes me a little nervous.
   
   But in the end, I don't expect the election to make a huge amount of difference. Since neither side is likely to have a significant majority in Congress, we are unlikely to see policies implemented that drift very far toward either political extreme. In my mind, Congress is the ultimate problem with our political system. Some of these guys stick around forever, and they are unlikely to do anything of significance that threatens their incumbency. And without a 60 vote supermajority in the Senate, it's gridlock city.
