I don't agree with your premise. Elections are not jokes. Although I disagree with the use of unlimited money by SuperPACs, I know that I can still make an informed decsision based on an array of different evidence. It's not only the TV ads and TV bickering that sways a voter one way or another.
It makes sense! To vote would mean to adhere to the eternal bypartyism. To vote again for them would mean I consent to their cheating with me in the name of the corporations! To vote would mean to pick a third party that will never play with the league since most voters swing between the democrats/republicans!
