When did the human race become human races? Are we considered different species now or what?
Why, when I go to a doctor's office, do they ask me what RACE I am? Is the Human Race now subdivided? Does each ethnic background have its own race? Are we in a race against each other or are we in a race within our own ethnic heritage? Is this too many questions in one?
If there's one thing some of humans love to do, that is to take the simple and try to make it as complex as we can for in our mind that some how makes us think we must be important.
By creating classes and divisions it's easier to control groups of people as well labeling them. I refer to societies like these as "who needs to trust you when I can classify you."
SpanStar has it nailed down. The only reason to do this is to apply labels where they are not needed. Unfortunately, getting away from those labels is much harder than creating them.
