Because this is Satan's world he and his demons control every aspect of the things that happen.  Corporations are people, Free Enterprise and Capitalism, are more important than human life, demonic expressions use to justify greed and selfishness.

Only those who do not subscribe to Satan's rules are exempt from the animal-istic tendencies; we see practice by men and women daily.

Now if you don't believe in Jehovah God, and the fact that there is real Satan, I will leave it up to you to come up with your own explanation.

This is mine and I'm sticking to it.

As for giving up, its really not an option.

I have long looked for a point to human life and now believe it is to learn, to study and to bravely stand fast in the face of futility.  This is the point of the hero stories, the early gods and most spiritual movements.  Trying is the important thing.  The quest.  Results are secondary.

I know there is still good in the world. Hate creates more hate, good creates more good. I try to create good to spread it, but it takes more than one person to do it. You have to push through all the crap to get to the good.

There will always be greedy people, evil and corrupt people, those who desire power over all.  However, there is much good in the world (which, unfortunately, is less newsworthy) and that's why we never give up.  Why should we let corruption win when our lives could be so much better without it - all we can do is make a difference in our own lives, to the people we come across, to try to influence those who might have corruption in mind, to be aware of what's happening wherever we are.  If we all do that, slowly things will get better, but then I'm an optimist, I have to be!
