What's the crime like in the area you live in?
Do you feel 100% sure that when you go to sleep at night somebody won't break in? If you feel a little unsafe going to sleep, what do you do to help you feel better or more secure before you allow yourself to drift off to sleep?
150 lb of German Shepard on 21 Acres of ground. No one bothers us. I Sleep well at night.
That sounds so secure, and it must be a pleasure to drift off to sleep feeling so safe. We have dogs too, but the more experienced criminals poison or subdue dogs if they are determined enough to break in. It's sad and worrying.
Crime situation as per the citizens has deteriorated over the last one year. Compared to the rest of the country and other metropolis, it is far better yet. In my little suburb, which is not too away from the heart of the city, I can drift to sleep with my front door open on the grilled-in porch, without being bothered to lock up. The street dogs anyway will raise an alarm if any strange person trudges by!
Thanks for your comment - you're so lucky. We're very particular about being sure that doors are all locked at night, in the suburbs and towns of South Africa.
a couple of years ago my town was voted as one of the safest cities in Ontario. i'm not sure it still is but we don't worry too much about people hurting us when we are sleeping.
My town is among the top fifty American cities for crime, and we are a perennial contestant for the title of having the Highest Crime Rate in Our State. Hey, we have to stand out for something!
That being said, my neighborhood is safer than most even in safer cities. The crime occurs mostly in other areas of town, miles away. I still have dogs, good locks, and, being a Southern white boy, of course guns.
You sound like you are protected enough to not have any worries when you go to sleep. Good attitude about crime too.
I have always been a light sleeper, could be a result of several years as a single dad. Our city is pretty safe I think and neighbors sort of keep an informal watch. We have a 15 lb Papillion who would sound the alarm (I think, since he barks at everything during the day. I do check the doors and windows, leave an outside light on and have a motion detector light above the garage door. So, as you see, I am fully confident of out safety. (I think)
Love the "(I think)" after the "fully confident" :)We have neighborhood dogs that bark at anything and everything all day and night, so it makes it difficult to detect when the dogs are barking at something that we should be wary of.

When I was in high school, the expansion for World of Warcraft, Burning Crusade was released. I stayed up for 7 days without sleep...it was pretty insane. Most people can't go one day, but red bulls+monster can defy that. I am also thinking of trying it again and blogging about...

What time do your children go to bed? How long do they sleep? What about naps? I've read that my younger children who are 5 and 7 should sleep for 12-14 hours and that my 12 year old should be sleeping about 10 hours per night. The younger two go to bed around 8 and get up about 12 hours later but...
