Which is the safest country to live?

The country having the least crime in any form.

A controversial question which really depends on what sort of crime you mean.  Countries with high homicide rates might have lower rates of street crime and vice versa.  Determining the lowest crime rate to a country could be innaccurate because certain laws may not apply in certain countries or jurisdictions that do apply in other countries, such as is the case with Holland.

I'm not sure but I think statistically Cyprus is the safest country to live.

I was interested after i read this and found this

    http://www.mapsofworld.com/world-top-te … crime.html

note that it is reported crime, look at those countries, i imagine the amount of unreported crime is horrific and i wouldn't say any of them are particually safe in fact I'd say they are dangerous.

As for my own personal opinion if we agree the Vatican is a country and not just a principality the i would say there smile

I have live in Singapore since birth and find that in terms of the word 'safe', I guess I will agree as I can roam the street at 2 or 3 am in the morning without fear of being mugged.

Of course there are many other countries that are safe like New Zealand, Switzerland, etc. It depends on where you are staying as you will feel that it is the safest place since you have lived there for many years.

Also there will be places that are classified as unsafe due to other reasons.

Norway has the lowest rate of violent crime in the world. That can be taken two ways. Either it's really, really safe, or no one survives to tell the tale.

The country which you love and think that it is safest for you and your family. And crime is every where. It is on our own to stay away from such things.

There is no country safe from crime and hatred but if you are a migrant Australia and Canada are still relatively safe for you...if you really want to, you can blend in and your family will not be a target of ethnic violence or prejudice...

Scandinavian countries are not only tolerant societies but they also keep themselves distant from international conflicts, as Sparkster said it depend on what kind of crime you are talking about.

According to statistics, Cyprus is the safest country to live in followed by Denmark, Norway, New Zealand, Iceland, Luxembourg, and Ireland along with a few other countries.  I’ve lived in the United States and Europe and still travel between the two and feel safe on both continents because I stay out of areas where I know crime is prevalent.  Where I live in Columbus, OH, I would not hesitate to walk home by myself at 3:00 AM and have occasionally forgotten to lock my doors at night.

The question is too difficult to answer since criminal laws vary from country to country.  For example, if someone is intoxicated in Japan and commits murder the perpetrator isn’t held responsible but in the west that’s an automatic prison sentence.  In the United States, most states still have laws against possessing marijuana but it’s legal in the Netherlands.  In Singapore, people are caned for petty theft and vandalism.

Well, in my opinion, where ever you are, what ever you do, you never know what will happen to you. So, I believe no country is safest to live. Anything could happen to you any time.

I would have to say Switzerland. Because they have been neutral for the better part of 2 centuries, and house all of the worlds monetary assets, they are the most protected, and least in danger of conquest or war. I assume that their civilian occupation is very low key as well. So I would say Switzerland.
