Anyone else utterly unconcerned that Obama supports equal rights?
We all knew he supported gay marriage, that's assumed, right?
OH MY GOD! He must be INSANE!!! EQUAL RIGHTS? This is America, and we just won't stand for these kinds of shenanigans! Extending the same rights across the board to everybody? Doesn't he know that this country was founded on, thrived on slavery of some sort ot another since it was founded? What is he trying to do? Level the playing field? Aren't all of our sports played on lumpy, hilly, mountainous playing fields with obstacles and sandtraps...oh, yeah...golf...country club...RICH PEOPLE.
I think that I must be missing something. Are you suggesting that we should be concerned that he suppports equal rights or that you don't think that equal rights or whether the president supports them are worhty of concern?
I'm saying that I don't get why so many people are in a frenzy over Obama supporting gay marriage. I kinda thought that, as a Democrat and a non super-religious type, everyone assumed he supported gay rights, so why are we all in a fuss now?
Ah! That clears it up.
I think that gay rights is an area that one does well not to take for granted. I have been surprised at how closed-minded and anti-gay some people I thought were open-minded are.
Uh, civil rights IS a very big issue and a big deal that our President has finally come out and showed his support. Minimizing this only works to further the bigotry that this country's politicos, (mainly the GOP, the religious right) seem to thrive on.
I'm with you... Obama supports the gay and lesbian population of America... Wow, I bet that if the Republicans would have known that during the last election then they would not have voted for him... What??? they didn't vote for him anyway... Why not??? Oh, they knew he was very liberal and supported gay rights???
So what were we talking about again?
Obama supports his own reelection, to accomplish which he has to slice and dice the American people into special interest groups then pander to a quilt of those pieces that can give him a majority in the Electoral College come November. If he supported equal rights, he would not be sticking it to those who do not support his political career in order to provide bennies to those who do.

Same sex marriage - Equality or Not for gay people?Ireland recently voted 68% to 32% by referendum to allow same sex marriage, the first country in the world to do so. Is this true democracy at work? How do you view the decision - is it good for a whole country to be given the chance to vote on...

In another thread I started a while back, many of you blamed the equal right movement with women and feminism for the reasons why chivalry is dead...or mostly dead anyway. therefore, i would like to know how do you draw that line then? i know it's right to treat women as equals,...
