You hear this phrase getting tossed around more and more every year. Both parties seem to bring it up in reference to the lobbyists they reject to take attention away from the lobbyists they are in bed with. As a left-leaning independent and active voter I've come to conclude as I get older that most elected officials act in accordance with only one special interest and that is their own. There are exceptions but they are few in number largely because the system has been rigged to elect only those who raise the most money.
