    Everyone who reads the news knows about this administration's incompetence. As an example of Obama's inability to preside over anything other than a Chicago campaign and celebrity cocktail parties, the FF scandal adds nothing new to the picture, it just reinforces an existing fact. A close race allows no spare time to spotlight issues showing little to the public it does not already see, and in the target-rich environment of Obama's record there are so many more illustrative things to talk about this one is crowded out.

    A second reason FF has not been made part of the campaign can be seen in the darkest aspect of the program. The administration undertook it in an attempt to manufacture political support for stronger federal gun control measures. The corruption displayed by a department of justice that would do such a thing is the central issue here, but it appears official Washington has no interest in going there. In the absence of a political will to expose and rein in the administration's wrongdoing, the Romney campaign would be going off on its own to raise the matter. No politician who wants to win will be so maverick as that.

      Thanks for the great answer. I just finished reading F&F by Pavlich a former ATF. I don't think most people know the entire story & would be protesting for impeachment - let alone re-election. Worse than Watergate.
