Is the White House going against Green policies by using cut Christmas trees?
The policies of the Obama administration are overwhelmingly "pro-Green", and I love seeing Yule and Xmas trees as much as the next person. But I have to wonder why the First Family and White House staff haven't caught on to the idea of using live trees (which can be transplanted later) for the holiday decorations? It does seem perhaps contrary to the administration's alleged pro-Green convictions. What do you think?
I think that what some perceive to be the administration's green policies are political pandering to interest groups, which is to say they are not policy atall, merely conveniences temporarily advantageous to the administration's interests. You can't expect consistency from that.
Green policies and Green police are for the masses. Privileged elitos use whatever they want. Finis.
Haha and they let the turkey live but they kill the tree... It may seem trivial, but Alaster is right: practice what you preach.
Green Policies are rarely Green. Most likely the tree comes from a lumber/logging companies land. They tend to run the land much like a farmer does a crop. They harvest one region while they regrow another. If they consumed all the land they control at one time they'd be out of business. So they don't. The reality is the spot where tree was cut will likely have another one planted in no time.
In fact reforestation is so important to them that about 75% of all the trees planted in the US each year are by for profit forest products companies and private timberland owners.
