Why now than ever before is oil and gas being discovered in Africa?
Has the African oil been a secret oil reserve for the West who for decades may have used the tactic of, ‘don’t show all of your cards (oil) to survive the superiority game’?
The answer is actually very simple. The price of oil around the world is now consistently above $100 per barrel. At that price, a huge amount of hard-to-get-to oil becomes financially viable. This is the same reason that shale oil and tar sands are now being developed. There is nothing secret about it. It is all about economics.
