    Do you believe that followers are just as important as leaders?

    Well, without followers, there can't be leaders; and, of course the reverse is true.  So they are as important as each other.
    Leaders tend, to be like factory owners and believe they are neccessary, and have egos to match,  just as a leader is nothing without followers, a factory owner is nothing without a workforce.

    I think that's one way to look at it, since one cannot exist without the other.

    Yes. While a leader is noticing the teams progress and knowing where each person should go and keeping an eye on the followers to be their friend/mentor, the followers normally do most of the work. They help piece the entire process together. Without the followers, the leader would have no reason to lead.
