Do you agree that Zimmerman should face a civil lawsuit after he was acquitted?
NAACP is pushing for it and the DOJ is conducting an investigation.
Yes. It would be a Wrongful Death Lawsuit. It was the same with OJ Simpson. He was acquitted but he lost in the civil lawsuit.
No; It was a straight forward self defense case and he was found to be innocent of any criminal act so I don't see any civil action having merit.
Regardless of the exact circumstances he was attacked physically and he defended himself. We all have that basic right. There is no law that says you have an obligation to let yourself get beat up. Had he not defended himself he might be the one dead, it happens every day.
Also given that he has nothing what would be the point?
A court could find that he would be liable for $10m but he doesn't have $10m or $1m or even a few thousand.
As for the DOJ the court has found him innocent in a fair trial and they should respect the court.
As for it being a wrongful death was Martin right in attacking him in the first place? Since when is violence rightful?
