Should cyclists have insurance to use the roads?
After a spate of accidents here in the UK involving cyclists who cause damage or are damaged themselves wouldn't it be a good idea for them to have some kind of insurance to cover them and any damage they may do?
Please don't take this as a anti cycling question, its about responsible road users.
Oh and I am a cyclist myself.
Given the high cost of repairing cars not to mention people I tend to be in favor of all vehicles being required to at least carry liability insurance.
I don't think the cost would be very high for cyclist and many of them have no financial ability to pay damages. If they can't pay their own medical bills that's their risk to take.

Should all new roads in a city have bike lanes?i realise that older streets may not have the room but shouldn't new streets have to have a bike lane?

Okay, so maybe not all, but a LOT. Why do cyclists think they are exempt from the laws of the road? Don't they know that a red light means STOP? Not stop unless you are a cyclist. Having nearly been run over by an idiot...
