Would you change political party if the opposition party were to introduce a
1% tax on all commercial transactions with no deductions and no income tax? This consumption tax would be applicable to all transactions with no exceptions. Corporations, business, non-profits, individuals, government, etc. would all pay the same amount. This would be real "fairness" - no exemptions. Are you ready to establish this through a citizen congress pressing each state to adopt a Constitutional Amendment?
Uh yeah, that is a madman's idea of fairness.
If you think the guy making $10 000 a year and struggling to pay for his wife's cancer treatment paying the same percentage tax as a corporation making tens of billions in profit a year is fair then you don't understand basic ethics or economics...
I use that example because I was there once.
as usual, a negative spin on the question. Nothing indicated that the revenue earned in this tax would not be used to support the "general welfare" of the nation. Besides, $100 would appear to be miniscule compared to the $millions from corporations
A hundred bucks is the difference between being able to keep a roof over your head and not. A corporation on the other hand does not feel the impact of a few million nearly as much
again, you attempt to confuse emotional thinking as total economic stature for everyone. if you think a guy making $10,000 & struggling to pay cancer treatment cannot afford 1% then you fail fairness. When everyone pays, everyone gets support.
I have literally been in the position where I cannot afford the $100 for exactly that reason. As in 100 was what I needed to stay close enough to being on time with rent that we wouldn't be evicted. Yo have no idea how much money $100 dollars was.
Josak - you have no idea whether know of your stated poverty position. I spent many years in the poverty line. This was caused by the overtaxing government. But you still mix it wrong - fairness is everyone pays and everyone wins - that is fair.

Do you contend that politics is a game and that the average politician whether Republican orDemocrat cares nothing at all about his/her constituents but only his/her self-aggrandizement, celebrity, and next career move?

I'm sure anyone who has seen my responses on HubPages knows I'm a conservative. I also have relatives who are liberal, gay as well as a recent revelation of a transsexual. So, how do we all get along? We discuss politics but realize family is more important than politics. At...

Why do political people seem to demonize the opposition rather than discuss issues?I see this on both the right and the left and it drives me batty. Why do conservatives like to use "liberal" as a dirty word rather than debate issues on merit? It's easier to whine about liberal this...

With so much vocal an organizational opposition to President Obama and his policies (such as they are) after only 9 months in office, is such criticism warranted? Does the opposition reflect minority intolerance, or a fear of growing minority influence?

http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/co … 05400.htmlThey might be perfectly fine with someone who wants to be the other gender, but, heaven forbid, they find someone with a different view of government, it's just too much evil to stomach, apparently.
