Do you believe society is worse than it's ever been? Please explain your answer either way.

I've seen so many horrible things over the past few years, children under 10 killing each other, strangers wishing death, rape and abuse on people who disagree with them, and people just treating each other disgustingly in general.

Having been around for over 70 years and surviving the housing projects of Detroit. I have seen some pretty rough things. Growing up in Detroit, it was tough or fast or the best was being good at both. I also spent some years as an MP and a civilian cop, so most things I learned to take in stride. It is no longer a question of tough though, it is a question of savagery. It began in the mid 60's with the hippies, drugs and the Vietnam war, which I served in. It was the beginning of a moral descent in America, as well as the creation of entitlement cultures, that began the welfare state. A Marxist Socialist ideology began to take root with a growing disdain for America.
Media has played a big role in all of this with the growth of savage and indifferent violence, a complete disregard for human life. Our educational system has failed and instills in our children a complete lack of self respect and self worth by promoting a collective over the individual.
It is said the women control the morality of any given society by how much respect they have for themselves. If this is true it would certainly account for the moral decline. It is demanded that girls and women are given respect. Respect must be earned, not given and of the Madonnas and Miley (?) of the world respect is what they do not get and become representatives of females.. But you do get babies have babies.
There seems to be no expectation for children to grow up and mature, but for men to remain boys and girls to grow up to be called girls. The emasculation of the male and the destruction of the family unit,  leaving children without fathers and mothers and children dependent of welfare.
You are right in your observation, but it will get worse. An avalanche does not stop half way down the mountain.
I hope I have added to the conversation.

Thank you very much for your answer. I love hearing from someone who has had the bravery to serve the country and live on this world for over 70 years. I agree with what you've said. I salute you for fighting for my freedom.

That you exercise your freedom in an intelligent fashion, it was the least I could do. It was an honor.

You, sir have just made my day. Thank so very much for your kindness, bravery and experience. The world needs more people like you who have done great things and can look objectively at the world around them.
