In my opinion there are two distinct kinds of security.
First there is digital security, protecting your servers, computers and other infrastructure from hackers and viruses. This includes anti-virus software, firewalls, encryption and more. I'm not really knowledgeable about this.
Second, there is physical security. Protecting buildings and goods from damage or theft. This can include things like access control, CCTV systems, burglary alarms, gates and fences, anti-theft systems, security guards,...
I don't know about the US, but in my country, the cost of insurance is dependent of the investment in security. Basically you pay less when you invest more in security. Finding the right balance is key.
