What's your way of approach in motivating a depressed person ?

The way you approach him/her is quite important . Its not gonna work once he starts feeling that you're just trying to motivate him rather than helping him out.

Best way is to relate to the depressed person is  from your own experience and not to  try and talk down at them.

Unconditional love can be felt by depressed people ..they pick up insincerity easily. Clinical depression needs professional counselling ..and hours of it.

Also went through this when I was in my twenties, so I can empathize.

Ram.....In all seriousness, depending on the type of depression, the degree of it and the age & type of person who is depressed, please know that there may be no way to successfully motivate.  Also, quite realistically, non-professionals, no matter what your relationship or how much you may love someone.....may not be the appropriate person to take on this task.
It does really depend on these facts and more.
I wish you much luck in choosing a sound, safe way to handle this situation.
