Will the RNC invoke a party rule that will trump Trump?
RNC Rules 37(b), 16(a), 12 and 42 - the Republican convention is a deliberative body and does not rubber stamp primary results. If done, will voters' trust be violated? If the facade of legitimacy is stripped away and voter confidence disappears - will the people have a right to forcibly resist self-evident illegitimate regime?
Yes, the Republican party would lose legitimacy - in the eyes of the public AND its base. Refusing to approve the person who won the primary will lead to a third party to replace the Republicans.
