Do you think Facebook and Google will change their global stance in light of recent events?
Some large corp. like Facebook and Google have been promoting an open society like that proposed by George Soros. They believe in an open borders policy when it comes to immigration legal or otherwise. They have used their global influence to shape public policy with the help of the Obama Administration. In light of recent terror events and criminal activities involving refugees, do you think they are getting the message that countries need their sovereignty to survive?
I am not sure they are as open as you believe, search engines constantly offer you what those sites want to direct you to, and make it damned hard if not impossible for you to find some sites/information unless you know exactly what it is and how to find it.
Much of that is based on political beliefs and prejudices of those owning/running those sites (Google, Yahoo, MSN) and they are also infringed upon by the government. Not nearly as bad as some places, such as China is reported to be.
I know fifteen years ago when I spent much more time abroad, what was being reported and talked about in the American media was a fraction of what was going on and being talked about in places like Israel or even Korea... and oftentimes it was 180 degrees opposite of what was truly happening on location... I can only assume that these sites try and restrict the flow of information in a similar fashion today... as for the media and the news, it is worse now.
I undertand there will always be bias. At some point, a company ultimate goal is to make money for their shareholders. Will they allow their politics and bias to get in their way? It seems to me their is room for a new search company to deliver truth
NO, they are engaging in censorship of anything that doesn't fit the left-wing narrative. Politics trumps free speech for many of these companies, a la 1984.
