Are we overlooking the biggest lesson of Election 2016? Don't we need better candidates?
We do have better candidates. Unfortunately they do not rise to the top during noisy primary campaigns largely ruled by the far left and the far right.
We have had some past. What is different now, the money? We can get the money under control, and we must. It's too much of a rich man's game.
There were 17 Rep. candidates -- assuming you were going to vote rep., which one would you have chosen that did not rise to the top. Seems like the one that was wanted did rise up.
As nasty a race as this election was, we can hardly blame anyone for not wanting to run. Rioting and protests afterward mad little sense to me. Are we Americans or are we barbarians? For shame, for shame, respect has been cast aside for craziness.
Part of the solution may be shortening the primary season from a year to only a few months. Then we don't have so many candidates fall out early from the sheer expense of campaigning that long.
