Why is Pakistan so obsessed with Kashmir?
69 years and counting, Pakistan still continues to direct its energy and resources that it recieves in form of aid from US, China and Saudi's for sponsoring terrorism in Kashmir or repeatedly violating the cease fire with India along the line of control to facilitate infiltration by its home grown mujahiddins!!
It seems you have answered your own question with your explanation. It's probably not unlike Alsace and Lorraine was to Germany and France between 1870 and 1945: claims and counterclaims with a bit of religious animosity thrown in. "It's mine!" "No, it's mine!" "I want it!" "Yeah - so do I."
Take a look at this wonderful Earth of ours from outer space and you'll no lines drawn on it. The 'It's mine' syndrome is just an idea in the minds of men.
@Tom I appreciate your point of view but tell me in todays context, which country would be willing to give up its own territory? War on terrorism for us is as real as it can get, both inside and the one sponsered from outside. We have always been compasinate about our neighbour and have repeatedly attempted to normalize relations despite being forced into war four times but all in vain (our's is still a no first strike policy, we only retalite).
Look at the west for instance, giving sermons all the time, trying to maintain their hegemony. On a false pretence of 'war on terrorism' they have bombed millions of civilians across the middle east. These weren't terrorist, were they? As an Indian citizen I feel the same for Pakistani civilians, they aren't terrorists either despite Pakistan being a hotbed for some of the most wanted terrorist organisations but its the obsession of the regime and their repeated actions in and around Kashmir that boils our blood. Undoubtedly the propoganda and all is there effectively on both sides and I an not saying that we dont have our own mess to deal with but not sure how or where all this ends???
1. Pakistan is a military headed state that uses religion to justify its rule. An area with a mostly Muslim population but Hindu rulers is unacceptable in Islam, and agitating over Kashmir lets them distract from their own poverty, crime and Muslim fundamentalist terrorism.
2. Kashmir contains the headwaters of several rivers, so the issue is partially over water rights as well.
Kashmir currently has a coalition govt but the chief minister is Muslim lady. Also water sharing is governed by treaties and only recently India has threatened to terminate the same
You're right on distraction bit and there's this ideology and ego.

On 2nd March, 2009, the Srilankan cricket players were proceeding to Gadafi Stadium, Lahore to play cricket with Pakistan. On the way, their vehicle was attacked by unknown terrorists, presumably 12 terrorists. They had a smooth passage in and out of the scene of crime and it seemed no...

People all over the world think that we Pakistanis are all terrorists. I beg to differ! I know that recently there have been quite a few terrorist activities around the world which were supposedly associated with Pakistan. Even if a few Pakistanis were associated with these activities, why is the...

Should Pakistan and Israel must recognize each other as both are the ideological states?
