Are Americans in a state of denial concerning the real probability for Nuclear war? Putin will fight

I hate the answer a question with a question, but I feel no other choice:
Why do you believe we are on the verge of nuclear war with Russia?

We are certainly rivals and the U.S has a strong role in defending Europe, but I don't see the U.S. or Russia using nukes. Certainly we are passed the time when we could have stopped the Russian intervening in Syria.  So I don't see the threat of escalation, at least not from the U.S. side.

Wars happen, sometimes unexpectedly. People are nervous, right now, globally. It want take much to get WWIII, a nuclear war started.
On January 25, 1995, the world was just a blink away from nuclear annihilation "because of miscommunication."

      Dear Ralph,
Look at the world all around you. I'm sure you can see only the good. No one wants to see the bad and the good. Denial is a great defense mechanism against the bad. No. I live in Nature, one day at a time. I try to encourage people.

To CJ Kelly. On 1-25-95, the U.S. and Norway launched a rocket that looked like a U.S. Trident. Boris Yeltsin was threatened by this missile and had his finger on the button to fire the USSR's missiles. "Stuff happens." Wars happen. A nuclear war will be our last war.

This comment is to the guy, above, who likes to call people who expresses themselves, idiots. People who think like this facilitate human behavior that leads to war. Push a guy like Putin into a corner, he will fight. Even with Nuclear weapons.

Dear Dr. Freddie.....I have a simple request.  I wonder if you would be so kind as to nix the "Doom & Gloom"  announcements and give the fear mongering a rest?  Is this really all that necessary?  Can you not think of a question to ask that doesn't conjure up thoughts of death and destruction, war and worse?
It's pretty obvious Doc, the daily battering and bludgeoning we continually get from the media is enough to cause all of us to fret and fear and worry....run scared.  Just what is the purpose of this sort of question?
"Probability for nuclear war?"  Please, Sir, can we get our minds out of the trenches and visions of war?  Good God!
Is this your offer to your fellow writers for a Merry Christmas??   How about we go with something positive, enlightening, cheerful?  I choose to focus on life, love and hope for a better more gentle world.  "People" are not nervous.....are you a little bit of an instigating war monger?  Some of us are feeling just fine until questions like this popup!   How to spread Holiday cheer Doc.  Nice job!

      Dear Paula,
Merry Christmas to you and all our fellow writers of the world. Forgive me for my calling for writing about realities that exist in this complicated world that we live in. I do wish everything was "positive, enlightening and cheerful."

The US is provoking nuclear war with Russia, not vice versa. The US is moving troops further into eastern Europe and surrounding Russia with missile defense systems. Russia does not even have a presence in our hemisphere.

Nobody is provoking a nuclear war. With a nuclear war NOBODY WILL WIN. So, nobody is going to push far a nuclear war. Don't fall in with the rest of the idiots.

I agree with some of the points that you are making. Yes, we do provoke the Russians when we get in too close to their homeland with advanced warships, missile defense systems and the likes. Russian nuclear subs are off our coast-lines however.

Clinton was the much greater threat to world peace, demonizing Putin and creating a new proxy Cold War by trying to overthrow Assad without realizing of course Russia would defend him to protect their massive naval base in Syria.

We have to remember how Isis fits into this picture. And we do not have Clinton to kick around anymore. We have our hands full with angry Chinese leaders, and Putin's new Satan 2 Nuclear missiles that are super fast. We have our own warmongers too.
