Are you surprised Trump fired acting attorney general Yates?

Trump fired acting Attorney General Sally Yates, an Obama administration holdover, after she said in a message to staff on Monday that the president’s order was not consistent with the Justice Department’s “solemn obligation to always seek justice and stand for what is right.” She added that, “I am not convinced that the defense of the Executive Order is consistent with these responsibilities nor am I convinced that the Executive Order is lawful.”

I am not surprised. Trump thinks he's in another reality show.  He lacks wisdom, impulse control, or concern for anyone other than himself.  He is a disruptive President and a personal disaster.

She didn't do her job, and when people don't do their job they get fired. He moral objections are not her job.

Liberals own vulgar - they always have, right along with debauchery, double standards, selective enforcement of the laws, identity politics, and gender bending

no. in fact, what took him so long? he will purge all of america if given the chance. have you watched that little 3minute or so video amarosa made way before trump was selected? its very creepy, but i dont doubt it for a second. she says everyone will bow to trump. and that they are making a list of his detractors. its like a kind of black magic. and its funny, because it reminds me of a louis farrakhan event i watched on tv once...a singer was there giving support, and she looked like she was under some kind of spell... like omarosa did in that video. trump thinks hes some kind of god, like farrakhan used to. super human..vril power. thinks hes so smart. thus is easy for smarter people to manipulate. cause its about ego. and when ego gets power, it becomes maniacal. the windigo is blowing. something evil this way comes....but hey, look at it this way...soon you  trump supporters wont have to deal with us pesky people with different views. hubpages, like everywhere else will be all trump, all the time. no dissent allowed. any where. geeez, it should be like a dream come true. "isnt trump great?" "yeah, trumps great""did you see what trump did today? wasnt it great?"...cause you know, they'll be watching.

Please list what is illegal about the EO - let me help, NOTHING - therefore she is only playing politics and grandstanding - facts are all that matters here, not political philosophy

Ralph, the DOJ office told her that the EO had been looked at by them, and it was found to be both Valid and Legal. It is a shame that people are more willing to protect foreigners, then take care of the US Vets that put their lives on the lines,

What's funny is that Trump took the list of nations from an earlier piece of legislation that had bi-partisan support and former President Obama signed - I call it faux outrage in an attempt to rally the troops against Trump

that list was for gvt workers who traveled as part of job. they were warned to stay out of those countries, not to vet all the citizens from them! use obama for bad and good...youz take the cake.

So true, but as in PC it is only OK when it is done by the liberals. And in addition, it is only a temporary 90 day ban. Yet, they react as if it was forever. I agree, these not sincere valid issues, they are just using emotion to hate Trump.

It was the correct action to take and she had no basis to not comply with president Trump's EO. The Justice Department had advised the acting AG that it was valid and legal. She responded with a moral judgement. The incident arose because the democrats refuse to confirm Jeff Sessions for the AG. They wanted to keep the Obama appointee as the AG. She is just an appointee and serves at the pleasure of the office of the president. It is sad that the Attorney General, even an acting one, doesn't want to uphold the law. The Trump EO was based on National Security grounds, and just because we haven't had an domestic terrorism for a while doesn't mean we are safe, and that is the what president Trump is trying to do for us and the country. This is no longer a pre 911 US, and we should learn from our tragic mistakes and assumptions.

Your response is a breath of reality in a sea of falsehoods.  So many liberals have no idea what they're talking about and respond with emotion instead of facts.  I always find their ignorance so annoying.  Good answer!

dont you think you should stop being so partisan, thinking along partisan lines? dont you think the downgrading of liberals is detrimental to us coming together as a country? shouldt we try to bridge our divides respectfully?

Leslie - partisan really. You are the poster child.
Kathleen - Yes, I agree but the liberals and the left keep doing it.
? is about firing an Obama Appointee Acting as AG, but trying to continue Obama's policies not Trumps. EO was valid and legal

Leslie, do you read my comments. My side is America, not the democrats or republicans. I believe that pres Trump is working 4 America, not the party. Why else would some repubs go against him. Ur partisanship puts party b4 country.

you keep talking as if youre fair and balanced, but i have never seen you bash a republican. and i mean bash. question their motives, their integrity or their patriotism..like you do with libs 24/7. you cant

Respectfully, her response was based on her legal opinion that the EO was unlawful.  She did not base her opinion on morality, although she did use the word "unfair."

I think this is consistent with Lord Cheeto's plan to make his word law, regardless of what the judicial system has to say about the legalities of his orders, so no, I'm not surprised. He's going to fire anyone who dares to disagree with him.

The correct, and sane, thing to do would be to let this work its way through the courts, but as we saw over the weekend, even when the Federal judges were saying to let people go, Homeland Security and CBP were refusing to do so. Instead of enforcing the law, they were taking their orders from the President, which is a dangerous state of affairs.

Is it any wonder people are protesting? We're supposed to have a system of checks and balances, that keeps any one branch of government from becoming too powerful. Lord Cheeto seems to think his word is all that's required to make things happen. That may be how he ran his businesses, but that's not how the United States works.

Lisa, President Trump needs people that are pulling for the same plan. President Obama had all of his people and not those of President GW Bush. Once again the Acting AG was an appointee, and president Trump could have replaced her for any reason.

    2. lisavollrath profile image91
lisavollrathposted 7 years agoin reply to this

He replaced her because she wouldn't violate the law for him. She believed, as the current highest attorney in the land, that his EO was not lawful. These matters work their way through the courts, but Cheeto isn't interested in what's legal.

What's a Lord Cheeto ?  Tell us Lisa  -  How does this violate any laws?  Restricting immigration is a broad power of the president and not subject to anyone's "interpretation"
