If that was the intent of Nobel and Obama got it because of doing ...............well nothing , Then Trump should receive ten of them for actual incredible political accomplishment ?

Why DID Obama receive one actually ?

Whoa. I'd have to disagree on that assessment. I think there was international hope with Obama. I think his efforts proved fruitless but the effort was made. We had a nation that was viewed as pro Israel and anti Muslim when Obama came along and made an effort to show an administration that was open to dialogue and respectful of their beliefs.

I think it is clear to the casual observer that the radical elements don't give a hoot about olive branches and would rather see us all dead or enslaved by insane takes on religion; but Obama opened a window in an effort to affect change. I can't fault the man for hope.

Trump is the other side of that coin. Give him accolades where due. I don't think a Nobel Peace Prize is in his stars.

Well then the Nobel is a useless and superficial accolade , As was the entire Obama administration when you think about it .   If intent to world peace is actually an accolade then Trump has trumped the last three  or four administrations by intent or by accident ,altogether .  The Russians have actually displayed historical respect in spite of inexperience media observation .   The middle eastern enemies of Israel and the US are pretty much silenced  Iran , always our enemy is running scared and more than that  , acting alone .   Political correctness and its actual legislative abilities is essentially DOA.  , Economic revitalization in the western world is in transition . Gees , I could go on !

As far as I know, the Nobel prize is not awarded for trying; it is awarded for doing.  For accomplishment, not effort.  It is not a second grade ribbon, participation ribbon.

Or at least it always was.  Perhaps things have changed.

It does seem funny that some Nobel Prizes are not awarded until years after the fact and some appear to be handed out willy nilly. But, I will say that he 'did' in the sense that it did give us all hope.

LOL  I guess the difference is that I didn't see much hope in Obama's international actions.  The only hope was that somehow we would pull through and be thought of as an independent country rather than just the pocketbook for the rest of the world as they spit on us.

Noble prizes - sadly, it does seem that that institution has become far more political in recent years.  That politics and public approval count more than actual accomplishments, and that carries over even into the sciences.
