Michael Avenatti, who has made his intentions clear on a 2020 presidential run may want to put that goal behind him. Avenatti made himself famous as porn star "Stormy Daniels' lawyer, suing president Trump for liable after she allegation the president called her a liar.  Avenatti pursued the president relentlessly for months. He appeared nightly on several networks taunting Trump in interviews. In the end, Stormy lost her lawsuit and was ordered to pay president Trumps legal fees...  Avenatti's robles continued when his Law partner also won a settlement against him. He was then evicted from his law office due to not paying rent for many months.

Today Avenatti was arrested and taken into police custody following an allegation of domestic violence.  He certainly has had a run of scandals. It appears he may not be a suitable candidate for the Dems after all?

Question - Do you think Michael Avenatti will still run for president?  What are your thoughts on his chances?

Prior to the domestic violence arrest, my reply would have been that I would not support his candidacy because he is far from the best qualified, though one could argue he's at least as qualified as our current President  (who I believe is unfit for office).

Since the domestic violence arrest? An even more emphatic "no."

        He had no chance anyway.

Then again, Trump had multiple bankruptcies, mistresses, wives, legal problems, sexual abuse allegations... And even a video where he admits to assault women and he's the president.

Maybe Avenatti needs 6-10 years in the media, saying his going to run and then deciding not to... And he'd get there. lol

Naw, not as a Dem, but if he slapped an (R) beside his name and promised to build a wall...lol

Have I missed something? I have never heard of president Trump being violent with anyone? I have certainly been aware that many women have stepped up with sexual encounters that were consensual?  And a few that claimed was sexually inappropriate but lacked proof.  I respect your opinion regarding your feelings of both men's qualifications.  It is not mine, but you certainly have the right to an opposing opinion.

I think the guy would still run for office.  I'll have to say though I laughed heartily when I'd heard he'd been arrested.

Karma. It's such fun to watch.

I need to see the details of his 'arrest', sounds like a set-up to me but if true, he'd be an acceptable candidate for the GOP in 2020 considering Bozo Trump should be in prison long before then if we still have laws:

The GOP with the help of Vladimir Putin got self confessed woman abuser Mr. Trump elected and Mr. Trump endorsed an alleged child molester for U.S. senate, so even though domestic violence is not even close to the kind of degenerates the GOP just adores, give Michael Avenatti a little more time to commit more ATROCIOUS crimes and he'll be a shoe in for the GOP presidential nomination in 2020:

LOL. Jake endorses the creepy porn lawyer accused of felony battery on his wife. Considering your comments about a young boy's private parts in one of your previous threads, this guy sounds right up your alley.

Not really an endorsement. Just further insinuation that allegations of assault are not problematic for those on the right. Which is not totally unfair.

Or is it just sexual assault allegations that you guys are okay ignoring? smile

Apparently the alleged incident wasn't with his (ex) wife.

“Ms. Storie-Avenatti was not subject to any such incident on Tuesday night. Further, she was not at Mr. Avenatti’s apartment on the date that this alleged incident occurred,” the statement said. “My client states that there has never been domestic violence in her relationship with Michael and that she has never known Michael to be physically violent toward anyone.”

(Btw, the ode to Carlson is so sweet. lol )

Ok. I watched 3 different news reports but if it wasn't his estranged wife, good to know.

And, yeh. I think Carlson's name for him was so apt. I couldn't have come up with a better description.

It appears the story is now developing into something different than originally reported.

              MJ Lee:
I spoke with Avenatti's (2nd) wife on the phone. “I haven’t see Michael in months. It’s a complete fabrication," she said. “Bruises on my face? It is insanity. He wouldn’t hit anybody. Especially a woman. He’s got two daughters.”

              This was the first, Christine:
I have known @MichaelAvenatti for over 26 years we met when he was 21 years old and we were married for 13 years. Michael has ALWAYS been a kind loving father to our two daughters and husband to me. He has NEVER been abusive to me or anyone else. He is a good man.

              Maybe a girlfriend? A "friend"?
