Statement by 370+ Former Federal Prosecutors on President Obstruction

   Over 370 former federal prosecutors signed a statement saying they believe the special counsel's investigation would have resulted in obstruction of justice charges if Donald Trump was not the president of the United States:
   
   "Each of us believes that the conduct of President Trump described in Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s report would, in the case of any other person not covered by the Office of Legal Counsel policy against indicting a sitting President, result in multiple felony charges for obstruction of justice".

         I think that's a distinct possibility.
         
         But I think care needs to be taken walking the line between seeking justice vs. revenge. Trump has angered so many people, that line could easily be crossed. Trump should face the full consequences of the law for any crimes he has committed, but the justice system must not be used to penalize him for his political policies (as odious as those policies may be). If that were the case I would strongly object to it. Having said that, there seems to be more than enough to prosecute Trump for any number of criminal activities, so perhaps my caution note is moot.

            Your original post points more to justice than revenue.
            
            I don't think 370+ former federal prosecutors would sign that statement if they didn't think Trump obstructed the investigation. They have their own careers and public reputations to protect.
            
            On another note, I wonder why no Trump supporters are responding to this thread.

                     I am by no means a Trump supporter. But I did spend the last 22 years serving our country and protecting our constitution and way of life. And looking at things from an unbiased viewpoint, I don't see Trump abusing laws or the constitution. If fact, he appears to be enforcing the current laws, and it is exposing just how messed up some of them are which is something congress should be working to correct instead of just complaining about them being actually used.
                     Don't like the enforcement of our current immigration laws...change them..
                     Don't like the enforcement of investigation laws concerning what is or isn't given to congress...change them..
                     It is not a difficult concept...but it seems the parties would rather blame each other and not actually work to find solutions.
                     There are however, Republicans and Democrats alike that are abusing both the law and constitution. But, of course, many are unable to see past their party to get to the root of the issues and vote to remove them from office.

                        DoubleScorpion, I respect the reasoned approach you bring to your comments. I welcome civil comments from true conservatives like myself.
                        
                        But now more than 700 former federal prosecutors have said Trump would be indicted for obstruction of justice if he weren't President.
                        
                        It's the most damning judgment about him that I've heard yet because they are far more expert than any of us here. I believe it gets to the root of the issue.
                        
                        Otherwise, I agree that party division is a huge problem in this country. We have reached this point because too many people on both sides want to believe propaganda and not the truth.

               Really?  When the post is that 75% of a thousand randomly chosen prosecutors make the statement it might mean something.  When a group of Trump haters are rounded up to give a politically based opinion it does not, so what is there to respond to?
               
               (Want to bet on what percentage of those 370 prosecutors voted Democratic in the past election?)

               I'll answer that. Honestly, Trump haters have spent so much time making tempests in tea pots, taking carefully orchestrated attempts to color public opinion to suit the view of the proponent who is putting forth their view and spending such a small amount of time attempting to be fair and balanced that I, personally, don't really care anymore.

            I somewhat agree with you Don W, but at this point, it's kinda like what they said decades ago in Germany, well, we must prosecute the Nazis for their horrendous crimes but let's be absolutely sure not a hint of revenge enters the legal process: an almost impossible request wouldn't you agree?
            
            Is everyone aware of what is actually going on right now in the once great USA? We have a mad illegitimate president who has pretty much spent the last 2 years Obstructing Justice, Ignoring our Laws, Asking our ENEMIES to locate our private property so he could use it for political gain, and then COWERING to them on global television, and NOW, he and his staff are Obstructing Congress because they believe they got away with it for the past 2 years !!    Don't look now, but I believe the number of attorneys who will prosecute old Donny Boy is now PUSHING 800 and GROWING but that's no surprise, even an individual with only a rudimentary knowledge of the law has witnessed his crimes in living color in broad daylight on GLOBAL Television: It's only a matter of time before he meets justice, nobody gets away with it forever:
   
   Imagine that, we have the most incompetent unstable 72 year old who might have been the BIGGEST Loser in the USA for 9 to 10 years who's only hope of avoiding indictment is to get re-elected !! If he escapes justice for another year, what's his re-election slogan? "I Beg For Your VOTE Or I Go To PRISON" ????

   I want to hear from the prosecutors who have been part of the two-year investigation, seen the thousands of subpoenas, reviewed the thousands of documents provided by dozens of investigators.  There are only 18 of them with this level of knowledge.  They say there is not enough information to prosecute for obstruction of justice.  I'm sure it would be no problem to find hundreds of prosecutors who believe Hillary Clinton should be in prison. I know there are hundreds of prosecutors who believed Obama should have been charged with crimes.  It means nothing.
   
   These former prosecutors mean absolutely nothing.  Nice try. 
   
   President Donald Trump is the president.  He will probably be the president after the 2020 election.  Until liberal American gets in touch with reality, they will continue to appear delusional and out of touch.  Your behavior only makes supporters of President Trump support him even more.  Keep in going.  You are good for his reelection.
