With Trump being officially investigated for Obstruction of Justice, will he survive the ordeal?

Today the Washington Post revealed--through 5 separate sources--Bob Mueller is officially investigating Trump for Obstruction of Justice. The last two Senate interviews with Trumps's cabinet members had them try a cute trick of not answering important questions despite not claiming Executive Privilege. Even though Trump knew they were going to be questioned, he didn't claim EP because they'd agreed to stall the investigation.

Now Mueller can demand answers despite any claim of EP, as well as, go through DT's taxes with a fine toothed comb. What say you Trump defenders and protagonists?

Its going to come down to whether this republican congress will do the right thing. And my hopes on this are not high. They have shown nothing but naked partisanship and lust for  power: Americans not even on the list of concerns.
As john lewis said, this is a fight for the soul of america...now john mccain also investigated for taking russian money...paul ryan. Mcconnell, forget it. Hes a gd toad. Sanderites taking over dem party...they dont care about russian hacking either. Cause they hate hillary.

The integrity is being tested. I know where i stand. Waiting for real repubs to kick these shit-starters out.
Not holding my breathe....but my little heart is hoping and hoping in justin amash.

Are you guys talking section 1510 - Obstruction?
I just can't find a code section regarding obstruction that fits this case.

He fired everyone who was investigating him. Obstruction. Cause hes big man donald, and he can. Has lied about all his russia ties. Some are saying he paid the hackers and the fsb. If he stops mueller, whats that say? If hes innocent, why obstruct?

    5. Ericdierker profile image45
Ericdierkerposted 6 years agoin reply to this

So now I think I understand. We are using the word obstruct in the common banter about sense. We are not talking about any crime. Since there is no code section that makes what he did a crime. Am I right on that.

    6. lovemychris profile image76
lovemychrisposted 6 years agoin reply to this

Its a crime to obstruc an investigation is it not?Thats what hes doing. And its a crime to lie under oath?Sessions did.And if a common person stonewalled and refused to answer questions, like coates and friend, theyd be in contempt. No 1 is above the law

    7. Ericdierker profile image45
Ericdierkerposted 6 years agoin reply to this

Chris, obstruct the way you are using it is not a crime. A legal definition of obstruct is far more restrictive in it's notions. It is not obstruction for instance, not to answer question and refuse to give evidence. It is not obstruction to be boss.

    8. lovemychris profile image76
lovemychrisposted 6 years agoin reply to this

If boss is accused of something and then proceeds to remove all people trying to find out if its true, said boss is guilty of obstructing justice. This particular boss works for 300 million people..250 mil of which are not happy w him.proceed w it.

    9. Ericdierker profile image45
Ericdierkerposted 6 years agoin reply to this

Chris you simply have not read the relevant code sections. The law decides what is obstruction not your concept of a loose use of the word. 18 USC and then look up the right code section. Not stopping the investigation - kind of clears anyone.

    Hi Randy

From doing a job for Trump. For what I do know he is more likely to get through this scam and create many more scams to come. Because he is a delustional megalomanic with a world record amount of law suites under his belt.

One day either a puppet master will get sick and tired of Trump. Or a street person will go insane and get Trump. Or can imagine many members could fear his wrath. Yet, someone could not be able to not take him any more and do him in one way or other.

To me US politicial leaders are no longer irrelivant.
    Still love Americans regardless.

Ho hum, here we go again.  Witch hunt one more time.  The left is getting jazzed about nothing once again. The left makes me laugh.  After things that Hillary blatantly did and was not prosecuted for doing, Trumps alleged scandals are tame. Muller was hired to see if there was collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia.  It turned out to be a big nothing burger.  Now, that's done, Mueller wants to investigate obstruction of justice?  Mueller should be fired.  There's not evidence.  If there was, yeah, start an investigation.  It's based on Comey's testimony?  I predict one more nothing burger, then the lowlife left...and that is what the left is, lowlifes will imagine something else that has no proof.  I still say if you're not ashamed to be a liberal, you should be.

Once again "Unknown sources". Hard to have any form of  discussion when there are no actual facts.  Randy, you are quoting from a news outlet that does not back any of their reports with an actual name. During James Comey  testimony he actually under oath made the claim that most of what has been reported by  WAPO and NYT was not accurate.  Don't you think it just would be smarter to wait until the three investigations are complete, and offer reports?  It's just my opinion, but you seem to buy into any and all of the unconfirmed  negative news reports. Do you ever actually check Trump's facebook page? He posts his daily itinerary, and he actually is doing some very positive things. Please, have an open mind he is president, and will most likely be our president for 4 years, if not 8.  The left's bias unrealistic rhetoric is only making more of us dig in deeper, due to seeing how much trouble the country would be in if the Dem's won the WH back.

If you have time to contact your senators where it will do much more good. Here's the number for the Congressional switchboard: (202) 224-3121 An automated voice will ask for your ZIP code and you'll be routed to your senators or your congressperson. Choose and a congressional aide will answer and record your concerns and pass them on. It takes 5 minutes. Politely request their complete support for an immediate, full, open, and bi-partisan hearing into the alleged Russian influences. AND be sure to urge that Mr. Trump's tax returns be subpoenaed.

For extra credit call members of the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence (https://www.intelligence.senate.gov/). State your case clearly. You are an American and are concerned about our government. Ask Dem senators to post strong statements on their web pages; GOPers, to do the patriotic, not the party, thing. They listen and keep count. Tell relatives, friends, neighbors what you are doing and why, and repost this to your social media sites. Cheers.

What I will say is that at this time in his presidency he is ineffective. He's actually signed very little into law.  Some of his executive orders are being challenged and being struck down due to violations of the constitutional laws. And, he's managed to annoy allies worldwide.
