Disclaimer: I am a Black woman. I have read & observed how Black children are raised in contrast to who Caucasian children are raised. Black children are oftentimes raised on blind obedience. Black parents inculcate their children to be obedient. Black parents, until very recently, felt that it was a sign of disobedience for their children to question them. They believed in the dictum that children should do as they are told without question. This inculcation creates a passive mentality in the Black community. This inculcation further prevents Black people to own their destiny but lets others who are more powerful to create their destiny. Black parents teach their children to be subjects of destiny instead of owning & creating their destiny. Caucasian parents teach their children that the world is their oyster. They inculcate their children to question & to be curious. They teach their children that they CREATE their destiny. It isn't so much racial discrimination but the impact of one's sociocultural influence on one's socioeconomic outcome. Your thoughts?
Also, Black parenting styles are generational aftermaths of enslavement. During enslavement, Black parents indoctrinated their children to be blindly obedient as a means of survival for there were dire consequences of disobedience. So this programming subconsciously, even unconsciously influenced Black parents generations after slavery. With few very exceptions, Black parents strongly inculcated their children to be blindly obedient & passive. Black children who are more independent are view as problematic by Black parents. Blind obedience & submission is a staple in Black households, even in educated ones.
