According to various sources, Democratic Representative, Vernon Jones, has stepped down from his current position when allegedly both he and his family were harassed by the Democratic Party, when he cast his endorsement for Republican President, Donald Trump, for this year's election.

He was quoted in the New York times saying he's "leaving the plantation", and went on to say the following statement:

"I’m sick and tired of me and my family being attacked and harassed by the Democrat Party for putting my country before my party"- Vernon Jones

He also was quoted saying this as well:

"Turn the lights off, I have left the plantation . . . I intend not to complete my term effective April 22, 2020. However, I will remain woke and vigilant in educating and fighting for my people"- Vernon Jones

As for his reasons for casting his endorsement for Donald Trump, he claims it's because he wanted to endorse the man that freed black people from prisons versus Joe Biden, who allegedly did the exact opposite of that.  He goes on to say that Trump is the leader that our country needs.  He also said this about himself as well, "the Left hates me because they can’t control me.”

Georgia Democratic Chairwoman, Nikema Williams, called Vernon Jones an embarrassment, and claimed his values do not reflect the Democratic Party's values.

Anyways, here's the new york times article if you want to know more.  However, there's also various other sources that talk about it as well if any of you care to look this up in greater detail.

For those of you that don't know me, I never voted for Donald Trump, as I've always tried to remain neutral when it came to him as President.  However, I do have to agree with Trump that there is a lot bias going on with the media, and it seems there might be some corruption within the Democratic Party if what Vernon Jones said was true.

Not that I haven't suspected it before, but then again, I always tend to believe both parties are corrupt to some degree or another, but that's a different topic altogether.   Anyways, what are your thoughts?  Please discuss.

Edit:  I found a video of Vernon Jones endorsing Trump as he goes into detail more as to why he's endorsing him for anyone who cares to watch:

Damn, it seems Vernon Jones decided to finish his term after all, and did he switch parties?  Well I can't say I'm surprised.  Although, i'm surprised that this isn't on the news much honestly, but then again, there always has been a very big liberal bias in the media, so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised.

No, it was in the news. He should simply switch parties if he wants to support Trump's policies. They are not democratic in nature for the most part, so why is he endorsing them?

I imagine those threatening him probably voted for him as a Democrat. I'd be pissed off as well if it were I.

But to threaten the man over it?  Seriously?  Yeah your right that the voters have a right to be pissed at him if he's going to switch his allegiances,as I would be too, but threatening a man over it?  And allegedly his own family too?  that's going way too far if you ask me.

Hell. George W. Bush, a former Republican president, endorsed Democratic nominee, Hilary Clinton, in 2016, yet I don't recall hearing anyone threatening him or his family over that endorsement, so I just find the whole thing hypocritical if we're being honest here.

People on the left get threatened as well, Steve. Remember Gabby Gifford with the crosshairs on her face. Gabby, who was shot in the head by a Right wing nutjob.

I don't like threats anymore than you do, but the majority of the time those making the threats are cowards.

I would have to think she is right - his values are NOT those of the Democratic Party.  He said so himself - "he wanted to endorse the man that freed black people from prisons versus Joe Biden, who allegedly did the exact opposite of that." (can we assume Biden DOES have the Democratic Party values?) and "the Left hates me because they can’t control me.” (the party can't control you, they don't want you).

Do you believe Jones' voters agree with him, Dan?

Very fair points.  As I said before, I think both parties are corrupt honestly.  I just think the people issuing the threats need to knock it off.  We have way bigger problems in this country than to worry about which politician endorses  who for president.  I think this year's election is going to be very big for the United States.  Probably the most important one in recent years, as we have a lot to lose if the wrong man gets voted into office, so it's important for all of us to choose wisely as I'm sure everyone will agree to that.
