According to various sources, Grace Baptist Church in Troy is giving away free ar-15 rifles in a raffle to support people's rights to bear arms. According to sources, this is all legal as the raffle is only for the 500 dollar certificate to get your free ar-15 rifle but you'd still have to go through the proper channels to attain it legally (i.e. background check and etc). However this has angered a lot of protestors over this as they claim the gun violence is at an all time high and that it's irresponsible for a church to give away guns like that. According to the CBS article I read about this, this isn't the first time this particular church has given away free guns to it's members so my questions to you guys is this.
1. Is it right for a church to give away free guns like this? Especially an ar-15 rifle?
2. Or do think the protestors are overreacting to this give away?
Please discuss

1. Christ told his disciples to arm themselves. Don't see why a (Christian) church shouldn't do the same.
2. With the recent spate of violence, including murders in CHAZ and other places, it was inevitable that people would wish to arm themselves...and just as inevitable that protesters would again whine about it even as they demand a reduction in police protection.
So much for the idea of one "beating swords into plowshares".
They had better not claim "stand their ground" and shoot one because someone peed on their lawn.... then there will be trouble in River City.
In my view, I think with all the uproar that is going on in the country, many hoping to abolish or reorganize law enforcement, it is wise to be armed. It is obvious that some Mayors and Governors have asked their police to step down, tied their hands. I for one am not accustomed to not feeling safe in my home. My gun collection is now giving me the comfort of knowing I can defend my self and my home. Never, though I would have to defend myself, the world is changing, and I will go along with these changes. I have no problem with the church offering its parishioner's arms. A week or so ago the head of the New York Branch Of BLM told his followers to break stain glass, and bring down "white Jesus".
Most Christians would not allow their churches or the status of Jesus to be vandalized and would stand up to stop any rioters that attempted these acts.
I can see why the protesters would become unhappy with conservatives arming themselves. It is apparent the second amendment gives them the right to own guns, and use them if threatened.
I don't see anything wrong with it. Especially with statements BLM leaders have made about churches. They might need those guns to protect the church against rioters.
We cannot murder people, however we can defend ourselves or others who are being attacked with intent to kill.
Seems like a sensible idea in today's world, where rioters do not respect law and order nor respond to any discussion.
Lets face it a civil war is coming in the northern hemisphere and although we live under Psalm 91, being prepared to defend our freedoms is reasonable

If you could give away a million dollars at this very moment, how would you disburse the funds? Keep in mind you do not need it and cannot keep it for yourself?

Given the Christian message about social justice, what position do you think Jesus would take regarding OWS and the St Paul's protest? And what do you think the Church of England should do? Can't help think that images of protesters being dragged across the steps of St Paul's by riot police at the...

Even though the system, as currently configured, worked in the case of the Orlando Terrorist, if one of the more popular gun regulations had not been stopped by the NRA & friends, how many people, now dead, would have been alive? One of the more sensible and less intrusive regulations...
