The cancel culture is at it again. If they don't like what they hear, your opinion, which is a given right -- they will destroy you.  The call for a boycott on a company that's CEO decided to dare to visit the Trump White House and support President Trump.

President Trump yesterday had a Rose Garden meeting to sign the Executive order  Hispanic Prosperity Initiative which will lead to improving Hispanic Americans’ access to educational and economic opportunities. CEO Robert Unanue was invited to represent Goya Fooids.

Politicians and celebrities are boycotting Goya, the largest Hispanic-owned food company in the country, after its CEO, Robert Unanue, praised President Donald Trump during an event Thursday at the White House. Critics like Rep. Alexandria-Ocasio Cortez, D-N.Y., former Democratic presidential candidate Julian Castro of Texas, and several celebrities aimed at the company on social media with hashtags like #BoycottGoya and #GOYAWAY.

Trump hosted Hispanic leaders at the White House on Thursday and signed an executive order on the White House Hispanic Prosperity Initiative to use more taxpayer support for private and charter schools and “improve access by Hispanic Americans to education and economic opportunities.”

“We were part of a commission called the White Hispanic Prosperity Initiative and they called on us to be there to see how we could help opportunities within the economic and educational realm for prosperity among Hispanics and the United States,” CEO O, Robert Unanue

A bit about Goya -- Get to know a little about the company before blindly following the Democratic call to.boycott

GOYA FOODS MAKES INITIAL DONATION OF OVER 200,000 POUNDS OF FOOD AND OVER 20,000 MASKS NATIONWIDE DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Goya foods employ over 4,000 American citizens that could be affected by the boycott.

    Julián Castro
    @JulianCastro
.@GoyaFoods has been a staple of so many Latino households for generations.

Now their CEO, Bob Unanue, is praising a president who villainizes and maliciously attacks Latinos for political gain. Americans should think twice before buying their products. #Goyaway"

Should our representatives in Government lead boycotts?

Do you support representatives that promote such boycotts against free speech?

Are these the kind of power-wielding representatives you hope to keep in office?

Should our Government officials have the platform to tell you what to purchase due to not agreeing with a company's political views?

So, now prominent Hispanics are demonizing Hispanics who are trying to help poor Hispanics get ahead. Disgusting. The truth is that Progressives are terrified of Charter school initiatives, even though statistics show that children in low-income communities, who have the opportunity to transfer to Charter Schools, do so much better than children who are stuck in low performing public schools. In fact, their scores in math and science are incredibly high and many of these "charter children" go on to college whereas the public school children do not. And why don't they? Because the public school children in low income, low performing neighborhoods have teachers who are not held accountable. Not all, but plenty of them. Many of these teachers can earn their salaries by showing up to school and reading a magazine all day (literally) and because of unions, THEY WILL NEVER BE FIRED.
Good job AOC and Julian Castro.  By the way, I just bought eight cans of Goya food today. Their black beans are delicious. I also bought coconut milk and kidney beans, all of which I will use. I recommend their products highly or you can donate them to a food bank. In fact, there is a movement to do so.

If you want to know more about Charter schools, Thomas Sowell has a new book out: Charter Schools and Their Enemies, or you can watch any of his videos on YouTube. He explains everything and it isn't pretty.

Thanks for bringing up this important topic.

I don't know where your "Charter Schools" thought came from in this thread Savvydating, but I am 100% with you.

We just had this same discussion—with me quoting from and promoting Thomas Sowells Charter Schools and Their Enimies book, in another thread. I could go back and find it, but it was a tangent to another topic so there isn't a benefit to doing so.

I recently became a Sowell enthusiast on this topic, so your words echo my own thoughts.

I am glad you feel the same, GA. My thoughts came from Sharlee's paragraph in which she spoke of Trump's executive order for "Hispanic Prosperity Initiative to use more taxpayer support for private and charter schools..."

Coincidentally, I had been a watching a plethora of YouTube videos featuring Thomas Sowell, Walter Williams and Larry Elder all week.... in an effort to assess all the madness that is happening all around us these days. In nearly every interview, Sowell speaks about Charter schools. So, this mutual appreciation for Sowell at this point in time appears to be a happy coincidence. I did not know you had already recommended the book.
I am hopeful that this new Prosperity initiative for Hispanics will make a difference for young people.

Yes they do. Especially someone who has publicly villainizes minorities using unsubstantiated bs, politicians do have the right to conduct, even lead protests, boycotts. Its not like they've just started speaking out. Most of these liberals spoke up before in many other issues.

You feel the Hispanic-owner (a minority businessman)  and   CEO, Robert Unanue has in some respect villainized minorities?  Could you offer an example of what Unanue said to villainize minorities?  He is known as a humanitarian.

Is it your feeling due to him speaking his opinion, and it was complimentary remarks about the president his company should be boycotted?

So, just due to his supporting our president he should be boycotted? Is this the American way?

And yes many of these liberals have spoken out on many issues. Such as Omar on abolishing our entire Governing system.

Do you really buy into all this BS?

Another important question to ask is whether the American way as you put it, is to be a sheep. Being an educated society, one would expect a majority to be able to think for themselves. Don't you think it's sad that most people do not have this ability? Is there something that can be done to change this? This is not just a problem in the USA, but shouldn't this be a question that needs to be asked?

I can't deny that we have a segment of our society that could be called "sheep". Those that ascribe to groupthink, and only hear what they want to hear. They tend to ignore facts and common sense. As in this incident of AOC asking her sheep to boycott Goya foods. She expects them to blindly do this, and many will.

You have our society pegged pretty well, many can't think for themselves, it is sad, yes, they have lost that ability. Not much can be done but ignore them. And yes, it's sad.

This seems to be something that has happened over the generations from an outsiders point of view. I feel it is the fault of the educational system. People need to be taught how to think and analyze stuff. Not everyone would be able to do this, that's a given, but the majority should.

I call any kind of blind following a cult. I saw an article today with Trump posing with Goya products, his cult is going to buy whereas AOCs cult will stay away from it. It's crazy.

"This seems to be something that has happened over the generations from an outsider's point of view. I feel it is the fault of the educational system."

The education system in many many of our intercity public schools is horrendous, a very high percentage of the students can even read with any proficiency. In the US one can get a good education via Charter schools and private schools. Children that are lucky enough to attend these school receive good educations. So, I feel you are correct in your opinion in regard to children need to be taught to analyze, and many just do not have that opportunity in the US. The lack of being able to analyze, and use common sense thought prosses leave some looking to peers. Hence --- "blind cults".

In regard to AOC versus Trump on Goya.
AOC promoted a boycott due to feeling anyone that supports Trump should be canceled out, boycotted. In my opinion, the CEO of Goya should be able and have the right to his opinion.  The left will only tolerate an opinion that they want to hear, no matter whether the opinion holds a common sense or not. It's a form of blind thought process." Do what I say or suffer being eliminated".

Trump's supporters in their support for Goya are open to seeing the lack of common sense in such flawed thought prosses.

How I see it, the CEO of Goya has a long history of helping the poor have food. The company donated to food banks, and have for many years. I don't care who he supports politically, I look at the man for his deeds.

I  feel boycotting his company makes no sense. What it appears is that AOC is seeking her blind cult to follow her command without using their own thought prosses to even consider this man's history of doing good on the behalf of his company.

She clearly hopes to maintain power over her cult, and she will with a certain some. Hopefully to some that have been following her will see they are being groomed as mindless sheep. There will always be mindless sheep, now won't there?

There are always going to be mindless sheep, but we agree, that their number can be reduced with some decent education reforms.

If she did it for no other reason than him speaking in favour of Trump, she and he and not very different.

No matter your politics, it is important to keep in mind that Goya employs over 4000 people who are grateful to have a job. Furthermore, Goya/Unanue contributes to over 300 charities, to include scholarships and nearly every recent hurricane. Even Former President Obama honored Goya for his commitment to the Hispanic Community.

So, as ususal, AOC is clueless as to the harm she does to minorities by trying to shove her cancel culture down the throats of vulnerable people. So much for her economics degree. In her case, it is worthless.
