I think this is great because it’s a mainstream exploitation. What do you think?
Netflix indicted for ‘knowingly’ promoting material in the film “Cuties.” It depicts “the lewd exhibition of the genitals or pubic area of a clothed or partially clothed child who was younger than 18 years of age.”

I didn't see the film, saw images, and spoke with those who saw it. Of what I saw, I'd say this is a correct action.  Did you see it?

I think you need to see it before you post, no? And yes, I did.

            I totally get it.
But, I saw clips and images of “Cuties,” so I have a good idea of what is in the movie. I am not interested in seeing it. If I watch clips and images of any movie that doesn't interest me I don't watch it.
What did you think of the movie?

I haven't seen the movie or clips, but I would say that if it can be proven in a court of law that there were "lewd" examples of children's genitals/pubic area then Netflix is in trouble.

But it is that "lewd" part that is questionable, seems to me.  Both movies and photos, as well as statuary, has show that forever...without violating that "lewd" portion of applicable laws.  It is a matter of community consensus, then, and you will be hard pressed to find hardly any community consensus in this country as a whole.  It is too diverse.

On the other hand, Playboy and other magazines quite often ran afoul of the law...in small, specific areas of the country.  If that is the legal tactic it may well get a "guilty" plea, although there could well be problems with the Netflix server, that the customer dialed up, being in another state.

Wilderness, I like your thoughts on this. Sexually exploiting children is not okay, and Netflix needs to understand this issue.

    1.   I can't believe it took this freaking long for any legal action to be taken against Netflix over this film.  Seriously, I never even seen the movie myself, but based on the trailer that I saw on YouTube, it was kind of obvious what the movie was in my honest opinion; hence why I didn't feel the need to watch it since I figured the trailer along with the reviews told me everything I needed to know.

Glad to see some legal action is being taken against it, but where this leads to, I don't know.  I guess we'll wait and see.

    2.  Will the people that watched the damn film be put on a watch list, or go to jail now?  I know there's quite a few critics that went out of their way to watch the movie just to review it for their respective companies they work for, or their blogs, or YouTube videos, so are they going to be in legal trouble for watching it on Netflix?  Even the ones that claim the movie was outright shit?

    3.  I sincerely hope regardless of what happens that all the minors involved in the making of "Cuties" will be okay in the long run, as that's the most important thing in all of this, or one of the most important things.

    4.  The CEO of Netflix is either going to be fired or he'll be forced to "voluntarily" resign from his position fairly soon.  Seriously, I don't see how the hell this man keeps his job after all of this.  First of all, he's already losing the company tons of money and subscribers to  their streaming platform over the damn "Cuties" movie that he agreed to show on Netflix, which is causing Netflix stock to go down over his decision.   And now they're being indicted?   Yeah, he's going to gone from Netflix fairly soon, as I'll be very surprised if he even has a job by the end of the year or early next year with Netflix.

Steven, these are valid points. Point one, I agree. It took a long time for legal action. Ted Cruz had a lot to do with, finally, getting some action. Point four is a huge possibility, and I'd like to see it happen unless he eats crow.
